All kegs will be tagged & returned to Breweries to be dumped. Kegs will either be replaced or credited.

Do breweries get an excise refund on returned beer that's dumped?

Yes, any broached kegs will be weighed before they're returned.

Wonder how Revenue will police that? Surely they're not going to watch Diageo and Heineken dump thousands of kegs.

On a similar note, whilst it's tricky, a pub owner could fill a load of empties with water and get refunds on those.

How would he explain why they've all been broached/tapped. All broached kegs will be tested.

I would say they will. I know St James's Gate has a Revenue officer permanently based onsite. I'm guessing Lady's Well does too.

Keg lids can be reattached with a bit of glue. They only need to make it past the person collecting the keg and then it's back in the system and won't be traced back to the individual pub.

How many have you glued back together, the Breweries aren't stupid.

All kegs are tagged and can be traced back to individual outlets.

    That's literally what they'll do.
