Old style door lock

Hi folks, hoping someone may be able to help.

I'm trying to find the name / style of an old type of internal door lock.

House was built back in the 1940's, the lock sort of looks like a Mortise lock but doesn't sit within the wood, the whole thing is screwed into the door, sort of sitting flush with the door?

I'll see if I can get a picture so someone may be able to identify.

The issue is that the piece of metal that sits on the door frame has broken so the door basically doesn't stay shut.

Yeah...a pic would help.

Some of the local locksmiths might be able to help...they'll all most likely be working at the moment anyhow.

Sounds like it might be a rim lock.

Yes, that one looks very close to the design.

So rimlock is the style of the lock? cool, now I know where to start searching.

Basta do a version that looks like this. You can choose your own handles if you like. We got these to match existing locks on a 1930s cortage extension.
