Just looking for a bit of help, when connecting a xbox one to a monitor via displayport Is it DP to HDMI or the other way round HDMI to DP ? I need to buy a new cable but im confused which one is it ? My DVI is fooked The picture go's on and off by itself so :mad: Im trying Displayport see if that works I think there might be something wrong with my monitor or the xbox itself

I'm not sure it's bi-directional, but somebody else might be able to confirm. I think you can only change a display port signal to HDMI, not vice versa with those adapters

The signal goes TO the monitor, so if that has a HDMI then you need
DP(xbox) to HDMI(monitor)

If the xbox has a HDMI output then you need
HDMI(xbox) to DP(monitor)

I have no idea what connector the xbox has

Take note there are different DP outputs.
Hopefully you have a DP++ and not a plain DP.
IIRC the DP++ outputs an alternative HDMI compatible stream, so that you do not need an active adapter.

Please check that I got the above correct ..... it has been a while since I read about that.

I dunno anything about DP ++ but, some guy said this to me on another forum "From what I'm seeing, the XBox One doesn't suppport DP++, so it requires an active HDMI -> DisplayPort adapter. These are less common and more expensive than most other adapters.

The $40 option
Since you've got a 1080p monitor, this one should work at 60 FPS with sound. You'd plug HDMI/USB into the XBox, and plug a regular displayPort cable into the adapter and the monitor.

Since your monitor has DVI ports, you could just grab a DVI to HDMI adapter and plug the XBox HDMI cable into that. These are much cheaper, but you'll need to use a headset for sound.

I emailed FOINNEX http://www.foinnex.com/col.jsp?id=175 and they said

The difference between these two lines is the port and length of your monitor.

1. If your Displayport is a female port, then please choose a 2M cable.

2. The other cable is used when your HDMI output port is a female port and Displayport is a male port. If your Displayport port is a female port, you need to prepare an additional Displayport to Displayport cable to use this cable. Is this right ? I know the guy mistyped some bits but, is it right what he said, How do I tell if my Displayport is male or female and the HDMI out on my XBOX ? is that male or female ?
