Replacing float valve in loft tank

    It possibly only needs a small circular washer, about the size of a 2c coin, to be replaced.

    In a pinch, if you don't have a replacement washer to hand, turning the one that's there around so the other side faces the valve nozzle can get you out of a fix.

    Could also just be a small piece of grit stopping the nozzle and washer making a good seal.

    Unless something has broken it's unlikely to have to replace the entire valve/arm/float mechanism.

    So I eventually got up to tinker with the arm and I just bought a replacement in woodies.

    After taking off the old one though the connection of the one I bought is too small to attach to the nut so I had to put the old one back on for now.

    Am I missing something? That seems to be the only size they come in

    Edit: ah I probably need to take off the nut that was there also as that's part of the old valve and attach the new one to the feed pipe

    Sorted. Removed the nut from the new part and attached to the new arm to the old nut
