Yes, there is security on the door but who wants to take on Travellers or Roma? They would have you up in front of a judge and we all know who the judge would side with.

Not only that they are the type that wouldn't hesitate to cough or spit as I've unfortunately had the displeasure over the years in work.....

If they won't change then no matter how much money is thrown at them it will never be enough....

Cash said it herself, she ain't poor she was just homeless......

Had enough to buy a €10k car, caravan, ornaments, expensive clothes she actually bought and of course don't forget the clothes that penny's kindly gave her.... Wait sorry she walked out with...

Very long queue for Dunnes in Citywest at around 2:30pm, but thankfully no queue in the post office.

    Don't believe everything you read.

I'll believe it quicker than alot of the BS here. Although why the Waste management companies would lie escapes me.

Quite possible they weren't expecting it and it could cost them money as a lot of us are still on fixed price.

I think its more likely that people trapped in the house have done some spring cleaning and sorted through crap they were storing but don't want any more than that panic buying led to food wasteage.

Or everyone did the garden and are throwing out a few plants. Also everyone has to eat all their meals at home so more waste that way.

There is zero proof in the article. It is drawing a conclusion from anecdotal evidence that is not supported by real data in any way. How much of the increase is garden waste, spring cleaning, extra waste from office workers wfh, etc
What are the volumes of food waste like compared to christmas break.
What % of the waste is unopened food items.

Come back to us with the answers.

If you think there is so much BS here already maybe stop adding to it.
I would trust random boards poster as much as I would trust paragons of transparency Greyhound waste.

Went shopping to Aldi tonight at 7.30pm and it was packed ,far busier than a normal Thursday at that time.
You would have thought it was a normal day at any other time of the year judging by the behaviour of people going in there .
Very few people wearing gloves ,only a handful wearing masks, people not distancing ,people wandering in to pick up a few items ,people blocking aisles ,loads of people cramming in at closing time at 8 .

I was last in there 12 days ago and it was exactly the same ,I was kind of shocked.

I was in my local Lidl at half 8 , there was lots of cars in the car park ,and lots of shelves empty . No milk ,no bread ,no fruit .Not sure who is doing all the shopping at the moment but it's crazy .

I work in a very busy shop and the public have stopped wearing gloves compared to the previous 2 weeks where so many wore gloves

You do realise You are one of the mob in the shop?

Someone else might be saying exactly the same as you, and to them you are one of the many out shopping .

I don't wear mask or gloves when I go out shopping. We were told masks ain't going to help us and gloves are giving people a false sense of safety imho. I bet some people have the same pair of gloves on all day and never wash them.

I put sanitizer on on the way in and the way out of the shop, and I wash my hands when I get home. Negates the need for gloves. They aren't some magic weapon.

All gloves do is cause cross contaminate, there is a reason why doctors and other care professionals change gloves after every patient check.

The biggest issues are you went in.....

I'm only going if it's suitable, if it's nuts I turn away and go another time....

    More need to do so...

I actually went home and then went back in again about an hour later as I thought that would leave the crowd off but alas I was wrong.
I had to get Salmon for tomorrow ,as its Good Friday.
I probably shouldnt have gone in but it will be as bad tomorrow and worse on Saturday.

It was my first time shopping in 12 days.
I wore gloves and a proper mask.
The gloves were put on before I went into the shop ,took them off as soon as I had everything in the car ready to go home.
Single use ,immediately binned when I came home .

Masks do help if used properly ,WHO are saying they don't because there is a shortage and they don't want to panic people.

Nothing stopping you going to local butcher, store etc....

This is the thing I've noticed a trend this week....

In work Monday was like nothing before, Tuesday 2 or 3 extra, Wednesday definitely more out and today I was 1 away from leaving people behind..... The bus has 18 seats..... Signs obviously mean nothing but I'm looking after others and myself and will be keeping to this.....

I noticed a huge number are staff for nursing homes and jebus Christ are they shocking....

They don't give space, burst their way on, talk, don't have anything ready, come to constantly ask questions, sit on seats with signs stating not too.... I'm actually fed up asking them to watch where they sit.....

No wonder the nursing homes are hit so hard.

I don't know about anyone else but I think this is way OTT.

Hopefully we won't see this kind of think in Ireland. Doubt we have the resources anyway so we prolly won't.

To be fair if you scroll down the Twitter account he has clarified it to death.
He has said several times (probably after getting a rap on the knuckles) that they will not be checking trollies.

Would be much easier to introduce a minimum spend in the shops so that people will buy necessary stuff every time they shop and shop much less in general.

I know of a supermarket that has done this informally with signs saying "If you come in here please spend at least €20".

Our shopping centre has signs up, "one person per household", still plenty of couples shopping, even sets of 3.

Everyone will continue doing what they want and when they get sick blame everyone else.

Probably not the right thread for this but is there anywhere open in the city centre that sell electronics? My mouse has decided to stop working and could do with replacing it asap.

While they’re not doing it currently they’re reserving the right to do it if things don’t improve- completely OTT - supermarkets are the one shop we can still access- whatever they sell we should be able to buy- like a colouring book for a child to keep them occupied etc the UK messed up from the start by being late to the table and adopting a herd infection approach which backfired on them- this is their way of unravelling their mess.

A larger Tesco will have them too and failing that aldi/lidl could have stock too.

    Powercity are still delivering too...

Big queues this am at Tesco in liffey valley.
Marks and Spencer wasn't too bad, was there before opening at 9, very controlled entrance and exit, literally one in one out, lots of spacing in queue in, not too stressed out after visit which is good.

Not being smart but did you "Have" to get salmon for good Friday?

I'm trying to drum this into my mother. If you don't need to go to the shop then stay at home. A lot of people are using this as an excuse to get out of the house.
Again not having a go at you OP but people need to realise there's a lot of things that they don't "have" to get.

I guess I didn't have to get Salmon but as I previously said that was my first visit to a shop in 12 days ,before that it was 11 days .
My mum has not gone shopping in 4 weeks ,I do her shopping too ,it was actually her the Salmon was for ,we'd gladly have omelettes today .
I'd already made out my list of items beforehand so I was in and out pretty quickly ,wearing gloves and a mask.

It wasn't an excuse to get out of the house ,I'm very happy in isolation ,I've worked from home for years ,I'd gladly not leave the grounds of the house for months .
I live a mile outside a major town and can hop over the back fence and wander through the fields for half a mile for a walk each day no bother if I so wish.

What you are saying is correct though in relation to alot of the other people at the store ,I've no doubt that they were there just to get out of the house on a fine evening ,a good few seemed to be combining their evening walk /jog with picking up a few groceries .
