Poland are not recording deaths with underlying issues also they are also not recording deaths in institution is nursing homes, orphanages, special needs homes and prisons

How is Poland doing case wise? I know around here it was being held up as a bastion of what to do ie closing schools, shutting boarders etc.

There's no evidence in the article to support the headline.

Other articles about '5G arsonists' don't mention this coronavirus theory at all.

It was reported in the press conference this afternoon as well

I thought the person who posted it was mistaken as well until I listened to it!!

I posted it. It was on 4fm the afternoon talk show with niall boylan. Horrible to listen to a woman with 3 kids kissing goodbye to what days she had left.

Another 17 deaths unfortunately but all things considered we're doing remarkably well, im sure two weeks ago, seeing the numbers that have unfolded across Europe, if anyone told you we'd be at the numbers we're at you'd have taken it with both hands.

How do you know we are doing remarkably well with the limited number of tests being done? We have no clue where things are at. We don't even know if there have been deaths due to covid-19 that have happened in the home due to people self-isolating and not getting tested/treated on time. Has this happened? Have those deaths been added to the numbers?

The Sun wasn't the origin of the story, I just posted their link because it was one with actual footage.

Luxembourg has 31 deaths and Russia has 43. Putin is the man.

Also, of course it's scientifically unproven. This is a novel virus. Quality research on it will take a while to produce. Shall we let people die in the meantime, whilst we are waiting for that research materialise?

It isn't as if turning the whole world into a prison is standard medical practice for dealing with any virus. In the past it was sick people who were quarantined.

Before this illness, the word 'lockdown' was exclusively used in relation to prisons. Only convicted murderers and the like were locked down.

An in increase from 2 to 10 deaths in 3 days could be classified as exponential. I think its you who needs a dose of realism. Our trend is very consistent both in cases and deaths and we are very near 14 days since our measures were introduced. Are you suggesting that our death rate is on the verge of sky rocketing, because expecting anything less than the deaths we have experienced isn't even slightly realistic. Yes we will continue to see deaths but i expect it to remain in and around the figures we are seeing at the moment. At this rate it would take one month of deaths to even get close to what spain, italy, france or the uk see in a day. Even adjusting for population thats a pretty decent position.

We were never going to see those amounts of deaths per day at this stage because of our population. If we judge by head of population (flawed in many ways, of course) we are only behind Belgium and Spain (and, I assume the microstates).

One day's figures can't constitute a trend, by any stretch of the imagination. The peak is at least 10 days away. And after new cases reduce (not disappear by any means) the death rate will climb for weeks afterwards.

I could be very wrong but I think the death rate will peak by next weekend...If it doesn't we are in trouble. We will have had 4 weeks of restrictions / social distancing and 2 weeks of virtual lockdown by then.

I would love to know how many deaths have occured due to the Nursing Home clusters. The low numbers of ICU deaths and the median age of the deaths would suggest that a high percentage of the deaths are in Nursing Homes.

The drop in numbers required for contact tracing and the reduction in the Reinfection rate would both indicate that it has not spread like wildfire like the UK and other European countries.

    I'm hopeful.

I hope there are studies done on the public health effect of the 'lockdown', both to mental and physical health.

    Some good news:

In Northern Italy, 60 volunteers who thought they'd never suffered COVID-19 gave blood. 40 of them tested positive for antibodies to the virus.

    https://www.lastampa.it/topnews/primo-piano/2020/04/02/news/coronavirus-castiglione-d-adda-e-un-caso-di-studio-il-70-dei-donatori-di-sangue-e-positivo-1.38666481

This means could mean that a lot of people get it without even knowing, meaning the death rate is much much lower than we think.

But there testing is only done if you end up in hospital.
No contact testing no community testing.

Because i care more about deaths and ICU numbers than tests. And yes i believe because our numbers are so low that all deaths are being recorded properly. Deaths at the end of the day is what all this will be judged on. We're not doing badly test wise per capita either if you look at worldometers

Unless real Irish people stand up now and do something our country is going to be plundered forever. The Irish Times today is reporting that the lockdown could continue for TWELVE MONTHS. This will ruin me financially and everyone around me.

"The announcement came as it was confirmed on Saturday that some of the restrictions on work, travel and education, could remain in place until a vaccine is found, which could take six to 12 months, according to the HSE."

I am now begging people to really look at what's going on here before it's too late.

Charged for negligence certainly as they have failed in their duty of care.

Honestly after hearing of a girl whose manager asked her to come into work straight after coming home from the states, these numpty brainless jobsworth managers are so incredibly short sighted and dangerous. They are one of the biggest threats to us combating the virus.

If these people die because of one idiot coming in with a "cold" and the employer knew about it and wouldn't send them home, they should be charged with murder. Because that's exactly what's happening.

In Poland they kept the churches open (with restrictions) and also permitted family members from different households to meet, since the Government over there are very pro church and traditional when it comes to family.

They'll also shortly be loosening regulations around religious events.

What about the people who will inevitably die needlessly due to premature lifting of the lockdown? It could be one of your friends and family who could suffer. You should be ashamed of yourself.
