Movies that would no longer work if written today

Watched Batman and thought "wow what a huge waste of money that big light in the sky is". Ring, text, skype, zoom the header and get him over!

I guess any movie where there's a landline used too at this point.

    Any other obvious ones?

Because of the PC brigade no movie pre 2018 can be considered a valid movie. End of thread.:rolleyes:;);)

I was only talking about Rear Window the other day. The social isolation of the main character and the inescapable voyeurism are possibly more relevant now than ever, but the development of communications media since then would require extensive rewriting to make the film work in 2020.

Blazing Saddles. The Twitter mob would descend like a pack of ravenous vultures and pick it apart.

Ferris Buellers day off on his own, socially distant in a locked down city when everyone else is also off...

CV19 aside, social media would've exposed his antics and everyone would know where he checked in throughout the day

John Wayne would definitely not be dragging Mary Kate Danaher back to the cottage with the whole village following them, that's for sure.

And Seven Brides for Seven Brothers would not have made it past the pitch stage!

    Some like it hot.

    Gentlemen prefer blondes.

    To kill a mockingbird.

    Gone with the wind.

Films could of course be made alright, but they would likely be presented and interpreted in a very different context than the original films.

The wind that shakes the barley
    Michael Collins
In the name of the father

Why ? Because Ireland is full of West brits these days, more interested in the royals and what they wear as opposed to our actual national history.
    Happy easter my ar*e

Back to the Future II would now be Back to the Quite Recent Past Where We Didn't Have Hoverboards.

A remake is probably being written as we speak.

Challenges to technology will keep him isolated.

    One of my favourite movies.

    Now thinking who I’d cast...

My favorite movie is Blazing Saddles and honestly I’d nearly love to see it remade just to see what a PC version of it would love like.

Be real watching though your fingers kinda stuff I’d imagine. Criiiiiiinnnnnge.

Any film involving uncertain identity e.g. Sommersby, someone coming back from the war claiming to be X wouldn't be a runner due to DNA evidence (or a quick google).

A lot of murder mysteries would have to be rewritten as DNA evidence would quickly ID the killer.

Escape from New York would need a different landing zone!

A lot of old westerns wouldn't get made today the way they portrayed the native americans.

The old private eye films too where they used to smack a dame around to get some answers.

Airplane, too many reasons to list. If they did reboot it it would be crap.

Demolition Man is not funny anymore. Nearly everything in the movie is now in reality. (Except John Sparton)

It's strange the outrage brigade have given porn a pass. Females sometimes refer to their co stars using the n word. And I don't mean naggers.

How come they don't get blasted for this?

First they came for the socialists...

Gone with the Wind. No way this would get made today.

A far too benign portrayal of the South.
