I listened to Dunphy talking to Liam Brady on his latest podcast. He said that Liam Brady had recommended Maradona to him, he watched it and thought it was great. So there you go, another vote for Maradona! I'm gonna get to see it myself at the weekend hopefully.

The Ascent of Man. It might be nearly 50 years old but it is a classic from what’s been called the “golden age” of (BBC) tv documentaries. I watched it in my late teens when it was first shown and am now rewatching it on DVD. Dr Jacob Bronowski wrote and presented it. As relevant now as it was then.

    Honestly a masterpiece of Television.
Some of the science has advanced since, but Bronowski's presentation and engagement with it, and in explaining it is masterful.

The Auschwitz monologue is a cry for hope and rationality in the face of monstrous evil.

I know this has been mentioned already but I have to say, if you want a rollercoaster ride, this is probably my favourite documentary.

Where it starts off and where it goes is just crazy. Love the graphics they do about the Russian cheating in Sochi as well.

    Watched it last night, superb.

That guy Fogle was a great advert for taking steroids, would love to have seen where that ended up and if kept going in that direction.

Reminds me of Louis Theroux with the Hamiltons when their scandal broke. Right place, right time.

The majority of Louis Theroux’s docs are on Netflix. They’re mostly excellent.

Some bits are hilarious, reminded me of trailer park boys & my name is earl, actually the character is a bit too OTT to be in those!.

I watched it all in one sitting.

The full music videos are on the youtube channel.

I only watched the kitty kitty one. I imagine there is some real gold in there too.

    One thing about it
I was pretty sure he was going to die in the end, they seemed to be talking about him the past tense

The jinx is excellent but AFAIK its been proven that the few scenes near the end were heavily edited!

they mixed up the order of his final words for a more effective closure, the original order is available on Wikipedia but the meaning doesn't change much, still very disturbing

I started watching Evil Genius: The True Story of America's Most Diabolical Bank Heist
it's like that movie SAW turns real. What a nightmare

Seen it already but there's a very good documentary coming to Netflix on the 30th.
Three identical strangers, about 3 teenagers who meet by chance and discover they're identical twins, well worth a watch.

Uploaded to Netflix today, well worth a watch.

Would like to watch it but does it have scenes of animal cruelty in it?

There are some small bits however nothing very graphic to stood out to my eye.

I feel the entire thing was cruel as the whole concept is wrong. I love documentaries tried twice but I hated it.

The cruelty wasn't just to the animals, There was more human to human cruelty than to the animals.

The whole thing was just so bizarre.

Really felt they crossed a line with the footage they showed. Netflix are voyeuristic, sure, but any tiny degree of respect for someone as a human being, and for their loved ones, would have said not to include it.

Yeah it's incredible! Well worth a watch.

A real eye-opener as to what can go wrong, and I spent the whole doc thinking, "What would I have done?!"

Apparently legendary in the climbing community too, really glad I gave it a shot.

Once Were Brothers: Robbie Robertson and The Band

I won't lie I shed a tear or two watching this.

    Robin's Wish
Robin's Wish offers an emotional look at the end of a life suddenly cut short -- and pays warm tribute to the brilliant legacy that was left behind.
An intimate portrait of Robin Williams and his invulnerable spirit, Robin's Wish is the story of what really happened to one of the greatest entertainers of all time - and what his mind was fighting.
