I've only been out for food shopping, and a 4k walk each day when I finish work, so I suppose it won't impact me much either.

This will hinge on the actual enforcement, and the special circumstances for work that people are allowed to do outside. No more of this "we are asking you to", it has to be "we are telling you to" and actually making business/people stick to it.

Thanks lads. Feels like I'm spiralling a bit. I've been trying the breathing exercises recommended earlier. Will give them another whirl later.

I’d recommend this weeks Blindboy podcast, the second half of it is about using CBT skills to manage anxiety.

    Does anyone on here drink?!

Yes, too frequently and casually hence knocking it on the head 5 weeks ago. I'd love to relax and have a few beers but I know it would not be to my benefit.

With the current situation, I get up at 6am, get on the laptop by 6.30am, work until the kids need breakfast and then rotate entertaining the kids with my wife depending on our work schedules. After they go to bed, I'm back on the laptop. Oddly, I have far, far less free time since this kicked in. Booze just doesn't have a place right now.

God I miss beer. And rugby.

Which is easier - entertaining the kids or the wife?

Will be interesting to see if it includes shutting down sites other than those for essential services like hospitals. Apparently the Intel site was absolutely hectic all week with contractors and subcontractors working away as normal.

Seemingly factories aren’t included as they can’t work from home but are supposed to practice social distancing.

Consider sending this link on good hygiene with groceries to your friends/family.

I was in Mr Price earlier today, and there was an elderly woman with a facemask pulled down coughing into her hands and then picking up items on the shelves to read the back and the putting them back on the shelf.

I've been wearing gloves and wiping down everything outside before bringing it into the house. The premise of leaving everything outside for 3 days is a little bit more tricky though.

Easier for people in Michigan I suppose; pretty much perfect weather outside to chill food.

No real impact to me with these new restrictions other than limiting where we go for our walks with the little one. We were already staying at home as much as possible.

I am def still drinking. One or two a few of times a week. Luckily I got a couple of beer deliveries in so am more than covered for the next 3-4 weeks.

So I've worked out an 11km run route that keeps me within 2km of my house and doesn't require laps and has few tight turns.

Best of luck. Will the hospital let you attend the birth?

They were letting dad's in today, but only during the actual birth, can't wait in the hospital before hand and not allowed to go to the post natal ward after.

Wouldn't be surprised if that changes again after tonight's announcement.

Found tonight quite stressful. Gf is working close to the front lines and can't live with her elderly parents for obvious reasons. My housemates effectively said they don't want her here either. I'd love a good Zebo debate right now over all this.

It's simultaneously interesting, bizarre and totally unsurprising that DT has recorded his highest ever approval rating in the latest opinion polls.

    Bullet proof.

Clocks go forward tonight so that's 1 less hour in isolation.

You’d have to wonder will that change as the death tolls rise, though it seems to make no difference. The Americans only seem to care about the economy.

I've watched some of their kids programs on the Disney channel (due to my youngest being that age, I swear ;)) and I'm flabbergasted by the messages that are given to the young on there.
Messages such as reading books and looking for knowledge makes you a nerd and something to be derided. Characters are nasty to each other and that's celebrated with the usual tin can laughter. Kids are disobedient of their parents, manipulative and are often shouty and full of tantrums. Stereotypes are rife, fat people are lazy, blondes are dumb, Latinos are low paid....

Nothing surprises me anymore in a country where ignorance is celebrated and the seeking of knowledge is something that makes you a pariah.

The economy is tanking hard and it's in no small part to the failure to be prepared or respond adequately. The lack of joined up thinking is disturbing i.e. He'll get the economy back running as opposed to he was the one who put it there.

It's the war time boost. As much as he has screwed this up, if it passes and they start to rebuild, he will be ready made to paint himself in a Truman/FDR type light and it's a very easy sell to the American public. His camera time right now is at an all time high. His opposition cannot buy this level of exposure.

I think the US has probably gone past the point of return at this stage.

The man has a 52% approval rating (and rising) on his handling of coronavirus because he keeps calling it the China virus and attacking left wing reporters on Twitter calling all of their articles fake news because they're criticising his absolutely shambolic handling of the situation so far.

If he gets another term you'd have to imagine the damage won't be reversible.

He surely can't talk himself out of a severe death toll. He loves taking credit for everything....

    Dear Diary,

I was so stressed last night and this morning. I slept terribly. Did a bit of meditating an hour ago and I feel so much better. The problem is still there but the fuzz that was dominating my mood is gone. Couldn't recommend it anymore.
