I have chosen this box to replace my Tiviar Alpha Plus which has been locking up on average at least once a week for the past few months. First impressions are good, it's much quicker to boot than the Tiviar, physically smaller, and there is also an element of future-proofing in that it can receive and display the very few 4K demo channels currently available.

One small negative point was I decided to get the box without a hard drive and the supplied screws for securing the drive inside the box are too long, so they either need to be used along with washers (not supplied) or replaced with shorter screws.

I am starting with a very basic OpenATV 6.4 image which can be downloaded and flashed without a USB stick and I haven't installed very many plugins so far. In fact I removed some of the plugins from the standard build which are not needed by me - plugins for satellite motors, Common Interface, etc.

At the moment, less than one week into using it, I'm still juggling with small niggles, in particular getting channels like Channel 4 HD, CNN HD, some of the music channels and AlJazeera HD to give me more details in the EPG than just now and next. I have joined the World of Satellite forum and am awaiting account approval before I can download a document which I am hopeful will solve this mystery. I know that there are various EPG plugins available for OpenATV but am confused about which ones can and can't be used with version 6.4 and the more online reading I do about this, the more confused I get!

Heres a tip and it will save you a lot of hassle. Flash box with the latest openvix image and it comes fully loaded, then over on the wrold of sat it tells you how to use epg importer etc and get channel 4 hd, Openatv is good but it will give you nothing that openvix wont and you get great support for openvix. when you buy a hdd you usually get screws,,

    You wont regret it.

And I have it on 2 boxes so can give you a few pointers but you wont need them.

By the way how did you load the openatv 6.4 without a usb? did you go to techkings?

NB You need an 8gb for the epg.

I had the same issue with the too long screws, luckily I had a box of old assorted computer screws and found ones short enough

Is Openatv 6.4 still a beta image ?
You'd probably be better off with 6.3 as a beta image will be more buggy.

Been running 6.4 for a while now without issue. No obvious advantage either though. If 6.3 is working for you then "if it ain't broke......."

No problem there. Go to Menu, Setup, Software management, Flash Online, choose your image to upgrade or downgrade and away you go.

Yes, it was running an older build of 6.4. Sorry if I wasn't clear with my original post.
