Stove came loose from flue liner (adapter burned off?)

Hi guys,

Noticed our stove was giving off a lot of smoke when I opened the door.

Looked behind the stove and found what looks like the adaptor the connects the stove to the liner on the ground.

I moved the stove slightly and the liner came completely away from the stove.

Would this indicate we are burning the wrong type of fuel in the stove?

What type of adapter do I need to connect the stove to the flue liner?

It's a stanley oisin stove sn stove. Pictures attached below.

It doesn't look good as I can't see much of the flange left.The flexi flue pipe should not have been connected directly to the stove,perhaps that's the reason it fell apart.You need to be able to attach a steel pipe to the flange at the back of the stove and connect the flexi flue to the other end of it.

Was the adapter/collar screwed to the stove ? I should have been held in place by 2 screws.

Yes there is two very burnt screws still attached to the stove, can't get them off.

Is the entire stove damaged now? Can I get another adapter on or is stove beyond repair?

Yes the stove was in the house when we purchased it four years ago never used one before.

Do you think the flange may be too damaged to get a pipe on?

You could either drill out the old screws or drill 2 new holes. Use stainless steel screws if can source them. The original screws could have been 1/4 bsw or 6 mm. A simple fix.

You need a new collar/spigot,about 30euro from a stove shop but you may have a problem fitting a new one so follow jeltongs advice about the screws

yes thats what you need and it's best to attach a short straight steel flue to the spigot and maybe 2@45degree bends to get the steel flue vertical and attach the flexiflue to the end of the 45

Another thing, the flexi pipe should fit inside the cast iron collar not outside as it seems to be on your stove.

Hi guys,

Got my cast iron collar but when I had a look at the flexi pipe I found a rip in it.

I attached a picture of it above, its six inch diameter.

Is this the type of flexi pipe I need?

Will that extension pipe you linked fit into the elbow bend or do I need to join them with some fire cement or something?

Yes.They are designed to fit together with a narrow and wide end,they have a hole to screw them together and also use some fire cement although its a tight fit so you won't get much cement in them.
Keep the wide end facing up so any rain coming down runs into the stove.
Make sure you have the correct diameter pipe.The flue pipe in the chimney needs to fit into the wide end of your new steel pipe.
The narrow end of your new flue bend needs to fit into your new collar.
A CO alarm is essential too.

I'v no idea its quality.I would buy it off a good local stove dealer.Quality is important when it comes to stoves and possible fumes that can kill you while you sleep!...The way your stove was installed before was a botch job and that's why you have problems. Do it right,then you only have to do it once:)

Got a steel fabricator to agree to come and try attach the new collar to the stove.

He's saying I also need a gasket between the collar and the stove. Saying it shouldn't be steel on steel.

I can't see any gasket available for my stove.

Do I need one or will the fire cement do?

The gasket is usually attached,glued to a new collar and it is the same material as stove rope.

Does the rope go around the circumference or cover the entire collar?

After glueing on is it then pressed against stove and screwed on?

yes that's what you need.the rope on my collar is about 3/5mm thick so you will need to thin it or try flatten it with a heavy hammer
