Have been on the list since last Monday. Got a text this morning to go for a test this afternoon. Cork.

I explained that i told the operator last week that i had a new phone number and gave her my new one and the doctor must been ringing my old number.

When there are 40k+ people waiting, it's not a great time to be saddling operators and doctors with the administrative burden of you changing your bloody phone number. Why couldn't you keep your old number active until this was resolved?

I was tested last week and kept in isolation and sent home negative and told to come back for bloods which I did. But now can’t get results as the hospitals outpatients appointments are all closed.

Then I woke up today and my back absolutely killing me and down the back of my legs and my guts feel scrambled with sharp random pains here and there.

No real cough though. A weird whistle in it when I do tho. Random diarrhea too.
    Don’t know what to do
Sounds familiar to anyone? Back is the worst feels like it mad bruised but inside

Absolutely ridiculous, all she could do was give me the HSE helpline number

What HSE helpline are you talking about?

If he wants to get tested he needs to get a referral from a GP. Doctors are only allowed to log cases through a system after speaking to the patient & where the patient has symptoms.

If it's an emergency he should phone 999.

If it's not an emergency, he needs to contact a GP who can refer him. Best try a larger practice with more admin staff because it seems to be fairly heavy on admin. He might also try areas with fewer suspected cases.

I changed my number over 6 months ago. Hadn't been at the doctor since. When i was talking to her she asked what my number was. I gave her my new number and told her it was a new number since i was last in with the doctor. Whats the problem with that? It was a very basic thing. Or so i thought.

Could be a virus. Doesn't mean it's coronavirus. If i were you i'd get back on to my GP. They may refer you for another swab, try antibiotics, prescribe painkillers, etc. But yea.. you need to get back on to your GP. edited to add: gp may have received a copy of your results

Your worse for replying to that.

Ah, I assumed you changed it between getting referred and getting called.
Sounds like your GP messed up.

Jesus that poll is scary as ****. 25%

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60 ✭✭deise18

I'm feeling worse today, pain in my legs , coughing more and a heaviness in my chest if I even get out of bed. Temperature between 37 and 38.4. I don't think it warrants getting back onto gp yet but hopefully will have test sooner rather than later feel I need an antibiotic if it's not covid.

You can't change your answer after voting.

But I'd hope that 25% (myself included) at least self-isolate, and that includes not going to the shops.

I contacted GP this morning, they sent me a link to fill in a questionnaire.
Just got a txt saying test tomorrow afternoon in PUC, Cork.
I do have/did tick all the symptoms listed except vomiting (small mercies) and I'm diabetic so perhaps triage wise I kinda jump the queue a bit.

How did you get it so fast? I have most symptoms too and aside from vomiting and waiting since last Wednesday. I have asthma as well

    Prob depends on location.

Wife referred by GP last monday, tested in Newbridge on Friday.
GP has now said, they won't be getting results, and it's the HSE that will contact.
No idea when they will be in touch.

I honestly don't know. I just filled in the form and submitted it. It does look like PUC is making a big difference to waiting times in Cork so perhaps my timing was right.

If you don`t mind me asking do you live in the City area?

I usually like to prove people wrong but not in this case, I have tested positive and not one time did my fever reach 38... 37.7 was the closest.

If you don't feel right please get tested and stay safe everyone

horrible luck topdolla. i hope you are recovering by now.

have you any idea where you might have picked it up?

I wasn't sure about where best to post these two things but maybe this is the better thread.

    1. No Symptoms but with virus:

You have to look down the news to find it, it's updating fast but

"Speaking on RTÉ's Liveline, Donal O'Sullivan said he was diagnosed with the virus after returning from Italy last month, but did not show any symptoms."

I've mild symptoms like many people and while waiting for my test, I wonder, will it still show up? Is it still worth it? I think so, especially given this startling reminder about being asymptomatic.

    2. Live Map of Virus, Recovered Cases & Deaths

As for trusthworthiness, Bing is owned by Microsoft if anyone isn't familiar with it. They use AI and official news sources to generate this. Interesting that they note the *recovered cases*.

What is the current wait time between getting tested and receiving your result? Any recent experiences out there?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,912 ✭✭✭v638sg7k1a92bx

How is it that they can get the results same day in Spain and takes longer here? Are they different tests or just the labs?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7 momum5

Waiting since last Monday (in Limerick) and I'm not the only one. No contact yet when we might be called. The system here is very bad...double the national average of 4-5 days. We have been isolating but my daughter would have been displaying symptoms when they were in school that Weds & Thurs before we became concerned and started isolating... what good is that for contact tracing when we'll be 2weeks on before get any results (If we ever get called!) At this stage don't know does virus still even show?

Spain are currently carrying out 15,000 to 20,000 tests a day.

    They have a greater capacity

Got called today after waiting since last Monday - then got a call back to say I had been added to wrong test centre and I’d have to wait for my area. Problem is that this Friday is 14 days since self isolation and I feel so much better - so according to hse website I can go out?

I had contact with someone who was back from Italy a month ago and suspect them tbh.. also I have been told 5 days symptom free after initial 14 days quarantine and you are ok to go out.

Thank you - I was referred 1 week after symptoms so I’ll be 21 days by Friday and I’m assuming I’ll still not be tested by then
