There is a shop in Jervis Shopping Centre that sold 10 cards (with envelopes) for EUR 1.

Yes, you read that right. 10 cards for EUR 1.

Best EUR 5 I ever spent.

    Seems like you didn't :pac:

Didn't get a card from my kids either, not a bit bothered tbh. It's not a day I care much for.
Bet they show you appreciation otherwise though.

Nah it's no fun to be the odd one out when so many mark the day by making their mothers feel appreciated.

It seems like these two never do that any time.

Got breakfast in bed while my kids sat on the bed with their tongues hanging out.....loved every bite :D

You joke but as someone who's parents are Jehovah's Witnesses it's bloody difficult.

I make a point of celebrating their birthdays and mother's/father's Day from my side even if they're not meant to.

Can tell under all their indoctrination that it does mean a lot to them.

My gran and my MIL both got calls and deliveries. My own mum isn't here anymore but if she was she'd be in no doubt how much I appreciate her. Hugs to anyone else missing their mum today.

I pity any mum left out by thoughtless kids who take them for granted - any day of the year but particularly Mothers Day.

My sister's kids are 19 and 18. They take my sister for granted a lot of the time. She works full-time and takes in students to pay for everything for them, college etc. This year, as last year, they got her no card or flowers for Mother's Day. They both have part-time jobs. She came home to find the house in a mess, and they were out of the house, When she said she was upset about no acknowledgment of Mother's Day, they just shrugged and one of stated what the hell was she. on about it's only a 'blxxdy day.' I'm not that much into cards, mine just make me cards for Mother's Day, but she is upset. Any thoughts on this would be helpful. I wasn't sure what to say, as I didn't want to make her feel worse.

You should do an AMA. That would be fascinating.

It's basically this on any given xmas/bday/halloween morning.

It's the one day of the year when I'm glad my mother is dead. I'd hate to feel obliged to buy a card for a made up holiday.

    Ah here!

That kinda came out wrong. I am glad that I don't have to buy a card. Not into cards at all.

OPs sister should find one of the infected to spit on them. End of complaints.

I think cards are a waste of paper and I don't even display Christmas cards. But, it's not about me on Mothers day and I know how much they're appreciated.

My mother in law is American so I get to buy another in May when they have their mothers day. It does make her very happy though.

I laughed but I got your point!

Don’t drag the bidet crowd in here. I like them, I like how they write themselves they’ve always something to say. All I have to do is sneak my name in at the end and I’m a poet laureate

In fairness your first post was a fairly dramatic way of putting it.

Although, with all respect, I did nearly spit tea everywhere laughing at the over-the-top nature of it. :o

She reared them. I'd wonder if that was her response to some of their important days?

I'd pretty much guarantee it was.

She just says stuff like that for attention.

As she and the other edgelord who said " she raised them, hmmm, must not have given them birthday presents" know full well, this is highly highly unlikely. And it's standard stuff for teenagers who have everything they ever want, not to show appreciation.

Why are some posters blaming Mum herself!?,.parents don't raise kids alone anymore.... social media has a massive input,. I'm sorry this is hard to hear for some, But it's true.
