Former Real Madrid president Lorenzo Sanz has died of Corona virus

I'm beginning to think there's something in the Latin gene pool, the death rate in Italy and Spain just doesn't stack up against most of the rest of the world, even the Chinese weren't hit like this were the case must have been in the 100's of 1000's

This caretaker government seems to be mainly made up of individuals with little, or no commercial, let alone competitive commercial experience to inform their light-touch, laissez-faire, free market ideology. Apparently never heard of 'competitive advantage'.

Just back from shopping in a number of supermarkets. Different hours for over 60s in different supermarkets, different implementation of queuing markers from very good to token nod, different implementations within the same chain.

Government needs to issue a mandatory instruction for all supermarkets to implement a standard time slot for over 60/65s (9-11 should avoid impeding those on way to work), and minimum queue and till spacing.

Left to themselves some supermarket chains and individual managers will seek competitive advantage to improve their figures. All normal, natural, and to be expected reactions. All should have been anticipated in contingency plan, if one even existed.

A government directive, a few spot checks, and mandatory closure orders would do the trick.

Very touchy feely cultures, mad levels of smoking, many people live with their parents until their 30s or 40s (just ideas that have been suggested).

Was chatting to a couple of Brazilians yesterday and it's the stress of not being able to touch that's getting to them! Living life out on the street in cafes, bars and restaurants is what has caused a lot of the issues as well as a casual dismissal of government announcements.

I know the fall in numbers diagnosed over just three days cannot be taken as a trend yet, but not seeing how an extreme Italy situation is inevitable.

Populations in those countries too high for the testing to catch up. Smaller countries death rate will be lower.

The argument in our favour is that we acted early and so far that pressure on the health system is not evident.
