Really wish this virus was hitting the teens instead of the old people.

If this was hitting the useless brats hard you can be sure we would be in a Spanish style lockdown.

I will not apologise for this post gangs of the little fookers wandering around is so selfish.

No need to apologise, not many take you seriously.

The US is riddled with it. In a few days they will get hit with the exponential back log what has been building up. Then, 10 - 14 days later, the death toll will start ratcheting up accordingly

I honestly think the US is going to be hit hardest. There’s a massive cocktail of stuff going on over there , that will just create another Italy times a million.

A lot of people don't seem to take this whole situation very serious either.

I know it's annoying to see teenagers not take it serious but i think it's actually more frustrating how some older people aren't taking it seriously.

I've noticed a good few of the older crowd still out and about taking no heed of social distancing and no joke a family friend told me yesterday that he heard it's just a bad cold and that a bit of TK red lemonade gets rid of it! He's still out golfing and shopping and doing his bits and visiting the grandkids despite their parents telling him he shouldn't not a bother on him and he's 82! I couldn't believe it.

The tests have a huge role in protecting the spread and it focuses the efforts of those contact tracing to those who actually have it The WHO said to test test test like South Korea are they wrong?

I agree, but the point I was making is that the number of positive tests is not directly translatable into the total prevalence of the virus in the population.

Exactly. I'm still anticipating a possible 30% rise tomorrow anyway but will be pleased if it's lower. I think the current low ICU count is the big positive takeaway from all of the numbers.

So, we don’t have a daily test percentage for positive tests?

That 102 today. I wonder how many tests that is from...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,667 ✭✭✭✭rob316

Number of cases doesn't matter, we know many more are infected. Yes its nice to see them low but ICU and hospitalisation figures are most important to determine how we are handling this. There needs to be a serious concentration of testing in Dublin, Cork and Limerick.

Anyone knows which parts of Dublin to avoid - considering it has the highest number of cases?

ICU count is the most important number. Deaths have to be prevented.

Italy has a population of 60 million. The situation there is undoubtedly heartbreaking but try to stick to the facts FFS.

The Mayor of NY seems like a competent guy, night and day comparing him and Trump but that state is in serious bother. Huge numbers, massive supply shortages, population density and a world travel hub.

I've asked this question before but what do effect to people think our population density has on our numbers.

The fact that we have way less people than Italy China or the UK would it be safe to say we would be likely see the growth in numbers that they have. We don't have big heavily populated cities so there's a natural social isolation that comes with that.

Useless if you're in Dublin. It should say which post codes to avoid.

The 102 number is not today's results, taking my own experience into account, I developed symptoms last Sunday and requested a test then, I was finally tested on Friday morning and I'm still waiting on the results. We could be 7 - 8 days behind in reality which is very worrying. There is not enough information on what days the results are covering.

I think population density is the key to the uneven distribution. I know that seems like I’m stating the obvious but people in Dublin need to wise up. People in rural Ireland are able to move more freely and get out for fresh air and walks more at the moment and that’s the reality. We can’t do the same here in Dublin.

Exactly the deaths and ICU patients are the most important and while 3 deaths is three too many compared to other countries it's very low.

I was in a coffee shop earlier that had no seating area and had about 2metres between each person in the queue.

A girl came in, early 30s I’d say, and stood right on top of me resulting in me jumping out of the queue.

The barista saw this and still called me over next as he knew it was my turn. I was fuming with the girl. Are these people just ignorant or pure thick?

I’m annoyed with myself for not speaking up.

Italy and other European countries showed seesaw numbers too. Up one day, down the next, up and down,

While it is OT, lads saying the outbreak might reduce pollution and deaths from it

If 1,000 die each year here from air pollution I'd bet it's most likely people with lung conditions

So exactly the types that have a large chance of catching and dying from this anyways

The majority are in Lombardy so far but still terrifyingly high numbers.

You're outta luck, I'm afraid. Sun and warmth up to 14 or so I believe next week. That's almost beach weather for some!

Just pure trash it comes from the parents.

Why wait in line for a coffee now?

I assume you have the means to boil water at home?
