    Theoretical psychologic.
That would be the behaviouralist advice and the line they are taking. It has been mentioned quite a few times at the daily briefing.

Don't think it will have as big an impact in Africa as elsewhere, looking at the DRC only 2.5% of their population are over 65. Countries like Brazil and India are the ones I worry about most.

This is a piece of piss to most people from Central / West Africa. They live with Ebola, Malaria, West Nile and various other horrific illnesses as well wars and strife most of their lives.

Skype as a company must be making a fortune out of this, I have done more Skype meeting this week than the last 5 years.

I was out walking on my own this afternoon when I saw three guys of about 14 coming towards me, from the way they were walking that they were up to no good so I was prepared when one pushed another towards me and was rewarded a swift jab of my elbow into his solar plexus. That cooled him down. To all you parents with feral kids out there (and there are many) keep your little darlings on a very short lead if you've not trained them.properly.

Good god the break down of society.

    Were you never 14?

Mobile subscriptions dropped massively in first two months in China. All mobiles in China are real name subscriptions

In your second link, is it showing a drop of six million mobile subscribers in Feb compared to Jan?

    Or have I completely misread?

Microsoft and yes they are. But their systems are creaking with the load being pushed through them.

Finally got tested today, I can tell you that swab goes in a lot further than it did with Turbidy. Also my temp or heart rate wasn't taken.

Looks fairly uncomfortable alright. Keep well A.

There is a local company checking the temperature of employees coming into work in the morning. Frosty morning today, a lot of employees were measured at 32 deg C.

Damn this RTE player app is unusable. I have to sit through the ads again each time it crashes.

Anyway that Stephen Fry interview was nice.

    Gave up on it.

Tis a shame they don't just give up on Ryan altogether and just out the money towards a decent upgrade on the app.

Maybe it's not as new as we think, it could be centuries old. Maybe it crossed over before in the middle ages. Supposedly approx 10% of us are immune from HIV, another "new" virus!

I heard a theory around the time that we had swine flu that if you are exposed to just a small amount of any virus, it gives the immune system just enough time to develop antibodies before the virus can get established or do too much damage.
Apparently this is common with chicken pox where many people have the antibodies but are not aware that they have ever had the disease.
Unfortunately it’s difficult to know just how much exposure you need. It just happens by a fortunate accident.

Thanks, all good. Self isolating as a family. My symptoms are very mild, the consistent one is a ticklish feeling in my chest. I have sporadic coughing but it's okay. One thing I did have a few days ago that I haven't heard others having is a sore eye - it was like it was infected from a contacted lens but hadn't wore any in weeks. No one else in the house showing symptoms (wife and 4 kids).

Yes, and their parents are worse.

Myself and my wife were out for a walk this evening and the amount of young people not heeding the advice was quite astounding - young people seemingly couldn't give a fuck if their behavior perpetuates this crisis.

When you contrast this behavior with the climate strikes - it really does make the latter rather hollow, just a day out.

Young people seemingly are not that socially minded and are just as selfish as the rest of us. So selfish in fact that they put their social life ahead of their elderly granny.

These are the same young gob****es who seem to believe they are somehow invincible and wont be infected - cos Its just some old folks ...

    That despite -
The Health Protection Surveillance Centre has said that as of midnight on Tuesday 17 March there were 350 reported cases.

Of these, 55% were male and 43% were female, with 26 clusters. The median age of confirmed cases is 43 years old.

It said 31% of cases have been hospitalised, with 2% (seven cases) admitted to Intensive Care Units.

So as long as they dont give a **** about their 'granny' , their parents and themselves or anyone else...

Absolute cretins and the parents aren't much better imo

To partially paraphrase Pope John Paul (not a fan btw) when he visited Ireland a couple of decades ago..

Young people of Ireland - Cop yerselves on...

I work in retail and all my older customers are terrified at the moment, a lot of them saying they’ve never seen anything like it and some of them lived through the war. It’s worrying and sad at the same time can’t help but feel for them.

    Any temperature?

I had a cough for 2 weeks and chesty now, but don't think I had any temperature at any stage. Doctor thinks I'm past infective stage so isn't getting me tested

The older generation are a bigger problem but it's easier the blame the younger generation as they are blamed for everything else. The amount of older people who just dont give **** about this far outweighs younger people.

In Tesco earlier, spotted about a dozen pairs of discarded rubber gloves where people had worn them in-store, loaded the car and ****ed them on the ground.....Pretty scummy behaviour to expect someone else to pick them up after them.
