Let’s hope A+E units stay as empty as they Are now.

I really do wonder at the marked difference in trolleys, beds available (for non covid) etc. Truly remarkable in just two weeks or so.

    Some story behind that,

How much of it is people on trolleys being moved into wards vacated by the cancellation of routine operations.

Has anyone a link to that talk that lady gave on RTÉ news earlier today, think she works in ICU.
    I missed it earlier

What about the thousands of people who have had the virus without even knowing it and the people who currently have it who will not get tested for it. The mortality rates are all based off confirmed cases only which is inaccurate.

The thousands of people who've had it and shrugged it off is great.
It will skew the mortality rate lower when antibody testing is carried out.

The mortality rate however doesn't matter a fúck when ICU beds and A+E units across a region are working beyond capacity to treat Covid-19 patients.

The number of patients needing hospitalisation, ventilation and oxygen is the issue.

If the mortality rate at the end of all this does pan out to be 0.8% but our health service collapsed as our resources were overwhelmed despite everything we have been thrown at it?

Does that lessen the impact of the virus?
Does it mean we should reduce the action taken?

The CFR or mortality rate doesn't matter when the actual number of patients needing treatment overwhelms a system.

Simon Coveney does live in an estate, the same estate as me in fact. Outside our estate last night there was a group of youth gathering by the petrol station. Parents moaning on a Facebook group for the town saying leave them alone they’re only socialising.

I’ve nothing bad to say about Simon in general. But I would say confronting teens isn’t a great idea. Especially not for the elderly population.

The biggest issue is whatever about the Carrot, there was no stick when it comes to stuff like this. We are insanely tolerant when it comes to anti social behaviour. It would be nice to think we could look forward to a revision of our approach here when this is over....we will see...

It's as near to a closed system as you can get, in other words a test lab!
Provided one factors in all divergent factors, which no study has done except in the grossest manner.

South Korea have tested hundreds of thousands tho, and not just symptomatic people

A test which can only tell if you have the virus, not if you have had it and recovered without knowing.

We have massively overreacted based on incomplete data.

Fine the parents €1k for any of their little shits caught out not observing the measures would stop this pretty sharpish.

It is one of the greatest mystery of all time , no hospital crisis if u took out the virus just amazing

They're turning people away to make provisions for Covid-19 cases (current and future) and previously closed beds are being opened and made available. They're also cancelling appointments as well. The wife had hers cancelled til a "later date".

    There's no mystery.

Let's start a Boards vigilante group to protect the streets.

If we see a teenager wiping their nose with their hand...

    WE ATTACK

If we see two teenagers standing in close proximity...

    WE ATTACK

If we hear a teenager sniffle or cough out on the street...

    WE ATTACK

There's a nation that needs to be protected here.

    Who's with me?

If we get issued with really powerful super soakers I'm in!

The same gimps that call anyone over 35 'boomer' because they 'ruined the planet by being greedy and ignoring all warnings'.

Self entitled, cosseted generation of preening whiners.

The irony is they are the most digitally connected group of teens ever. Why they suddenly decide it's not enough and they all need to be out together too is just....there's no word for it.

It looks like we our on the Italian track. We've implemented a half arse lock down and we will get similar results.
Lock down is inevitable. Unfortunately by the time we realise this health system overwhelmed.
Italy deploying army now to enforce lockdown at the behest of the health ministry.
I'm not some lunatic I just feel we have a duty of care towards the elderly in society. They paid their dues.
To be clear I'm not some sadist who wants austerity. The government can print as much money as they want. Instead of giving it to banks so they can give to us +5% they can give to those most affected. FFS even trump is doing, Hong Kong did it.
We are all in the **** together. We owe it to the health service workers who will have to face the consequence of these decisions despite overwhelming evidence.

Yes I have my operation put back for at least 6 months, not life or death so no problem with that.

Is there any reason why they haven’t released the age of the third person to die?

Protecting their identity. They will give stats when the numbers increase.

Er wonder why hasn't he already confronted this group of youths? Since that's what he's advocating.

    Very strange.

I’m actually totally wrong , he doesn’t live in my estate. The reason I thought he did was a good few years ago he drove the same car as my dad and I got into his car by my house thinking it was my dads ( it wasn’t locked). Simon walked towards the car the same time as my dad both laughing and I’ve never got over the shame, anyway Simon lives on a farm.

In saying that he would have to drive passed these teens to get out of his house.

I’d reckon that routine procedures are being cancelled to free up staff for covid.. No staff, no bed for non emergencies.

Emergencies will always be looked after though.

It means our actions should have been totally different. Only high-risk groups should be self-isolating.

Does any know of, or have a link to, reports of any country doing randomised testing on statistically valid random population sampling?

There is an appalling absence of hard data on which to base decisions at present given the progress of this outbreak.

12 in ICU is a doubling from yesterday right?

How many of these does it take to put the system under pressure?

    Anyone know?

Could we couple with a couple of hundred?
