It's getting to the stage where Chernobyl looks like it was a handier mess to clean up.

The thing with Chernobyl is that it was a government cover up - in this the Gov have been very open, its the general populace who have been stupid and disingenuous

You bought them because you value your health, but you just posted a few minutes ago that like another poster, you are too afraid to wear them in case people laugh at you or think you look suspicious.

    K.

I haven't gone outside in 6 day, I will definitely be wearing it next time I venture outside.

What's happening is its now endemic. And the government bottled it on a proper lockdown. Might as well go down the herd immunity route now as we really don't have the willpower to impose a lockdown here.

There are different ways to approach this. We seem to be following no. 3 in this article. Herd immunity sounds more like no. 1.

Ha, that's exactly what I thought, they seem to love running amok in A and E

That's charming. My husband fits all those criteria. Nice to know you consider him expendable! Except - he's not.
Aside from the moral and emotional repercussions, like many of our generation, we babysit grandchildren so our kids can work. We're also con sumers, have no debt burden, and assist our family in many other ways other than babysitting. We're not quite as expendable to the economy as you might think. Nor are many, many others who are older or have a health condition.
    >reading with understanding

I didn't say anyone is expendable.

Teenagers on the green near where I live today playing football. I counted 12 of them. Having a 6 a side game. Not a care in the world, jumping all over each other and acting the maggots. I said to my neighbour what you make of that? She said "I know,it's like the summer holidays already, and she laughed. It went totally over her head. Is it just me watching too much on this or her and these kids parents being idiots.

I think our approach has been sensible, if a bit late.

I also think there will be a ramp up in interventions. I don't know what that could be though.

Lockdown may come, but maybe an intermediate step first. They did mention advising elderly people to isolate - cocooning - perhaps that's next, before people on the street are fined.

This doctor is making sense on prime time. We all need to avoid each other. People are not heeding to this so we only have ourselves to blame for the coming storm.

I presume many of those cases are in southern Italy because of the thousands who fled there from the North. If it takes off in the south it will make the north look like small fry as they have much poorer health infrastructure.

What’s the logic in not going into lockdown here?

We have 5 cases totally recovered, are there any reports anywhere from any of these?

Id imagine their symptoms were bad in order to be diagnosed this early, so Id expect their stories to be on the extreme side, but Id still like to hear their experiences.

We'll probably see another spike next week when the panic buying morons and cheltenham punters test positive.

Died, a lot. Smallpox alone killed hundreds of millions in just the 20th century. 30% death rate. We eradicated it completely in the early 80's.

You weren’t expected to live very long.
200 years ago surviving child birth was an achievement. Virus outbreaks were the least of your worries.

I don't know, but it's not fair to call kids maggots and idiots for just being kids. But yeah, parents have to be more aware now.

    Listen to the Italians.

    Everything they said was correct.

Over 1000 deaths in Europe today, hard to comprehend

The general public does not need to wear masks.

Health service works who are around a patient for 12 hours do.

It's common sense, this was said by the hse over and over at the start and even a few days ago that there was no need for the public to be wearing masks. If someone has a respiratory issue then that's a different story.

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.independent.ie/world-news/coronavirus/coronavirus-face-masks-sell-out-but-hse-say-no-evidence-that-they-benefit-those-not-sick-38994645.html

Not sure. Some people that identify as Irish are quite feral when told what they can or cannot do.

Yeah hard to take in. Where do they put bodies. Then seen on news the army ships them out at night in trucks.
