I went to work for the first time in a week because I had to get stuff sent out in hard copy and no support staff in. Town was quite eerie... lots of businesses closed. Very few people in the open places, mainly food places, any clothes shops looked totally empty. Those that were open had staggered 2 metre queues outside. Lots of people wearing masks or scarves around their face. Social distancing is happening. It’s certainly not on par with a lock down but it was worlds away from Dublin City centre on a normal day

What town were you in? I've heard Dublin is almost deserted!

Boris and Leo have agreed to align actions as much as possible. Boris was definitely floundering, hopefully at least the north aligns with us

Fvcking west Dublin! Not the time to disparage whole swats of Dublin. The point of a lockdown / martial law is that there is no discrimination. You are in for some shock boyo when you think, "Oh but I'm different, I shop in M&S and I'm very aspirational" Some young private won't hesitate to tell you to get the fvck

New laws - Means discrimation goes out the window! Reason why goverment ministers having a barny over it today!

Think of the worst law it - Herd up infected into croke park

    Yep.

And it is a virus of chinese origin. Disgraceful the reported practices on their markets which has resulted in this.

Chinese people have been earing bats forever and it only happens now? I dont beleive that.

    You can't

.. and anyway, the border isn't just the line on this island, it also involves traffic going too & frow between the two islands, and you can't cut off flights & ferries.

Nah **** it. We can hire a few thousand more soldiers to patrol the border and then we can live on beef, spuds and milk for the year (but you'll have to walk to the farmer to buy it), we can all cycle or walk everywhere and nobody can ever get a new appliance, car, computer, .... Sure it'll be grand.

Fergal Bowers from RTE has the breakdown by counties on Twitter. I don't know why it's not being released officially.

County by county now of 350 cases examined:

I heard the infected are going to be forced to play GAA for our amusement while we're under lockdown

Agreed. Our Military are well capable of maintaining a curfew across the worst areas. All personnel have been given orders to pack and be ready for ATCP ops. It will be very black and white. There will be no tolerance of "yeah but, no but" Hopefully, if people cop On, it will not come to this but, if major irresponsibility threatens the security of the state, and the Gardai cannot handle it, the trucks will roll.

I don't think the curve will be half as steep as other countries with more dense populations.

Why did it take 100yrs since the last pandemic in that case. If you're correct we should have consistent pandemics.

Clue, it needs a very specific set of circumstances

Anyone else thing that the social distancing is slipping a good bit. Its as if people are forgetting about the virus.... Just back from the shops, people walking around chatting to one another normally..

I'm no virologist but I know that they mutate over time. A strain that could be harmless or doesn't affect humans can, under the right conditions, mutate into one that becomes an epidemic.

I tagged myself in the pub on Facebook each day

This is one of the worst posts I've ever read on boards.

    Regardless of the pandemic.

Cool, I prefer foundering. Think he may well be sinking although I hope he's not. Glad he did a u-turn. Would be worse if he didn't change course.
