You do know I'm not the FDA right?

It was the FDA who came out and contradicted his bullshít, not me.

No they didn’t. They said it was being given to some patients and showed promise but it needs more study before it’s used widespread. Cheer up mate .. this is good news

I have noticed an uptick in people wearing gloves that are wasting their time. If your wearing gloves when your out would you stop touching your faces. A dirty glove touching your face is the same as a dirty hand touching your face.

As for use of face masks I wonder how many people are following proper techniques to put them on, replacing them once there are damp etc.

From what I can see most people wearing gloves and masks are no more protected then those who are not using them.

disagree completely esp for people who don't have any sanitiser and are out and about. disposable gloves are a life saver. put them on before leaving the vehicle, do your shopping and dispose of them into bin before hopping back in vehicle. the door handles won't even be infected them.

i believe the only reason why there is a message against mask wearing is because there are none available to buy. if they don't work why are they mandatory for anyone going outside in china or south korea? anyone i know who works in pharma or biomed tells me to wear masks at all time when venturing outside.

When did Ireland get its first case? You mean 1st positively tested case? At that stage it was too late. In reality, the first case was probably here weeks beforehand. If it was so easily avoided why are there 140+ countries with cases? Are Leo and FG in charge of all those countries too?

The first reported case. A woman from the north travelled through Dublin airport.

I know the virus was probably in our country before that but it makes no sense to continue importing cases. From today, all these numbers are going climb and our health service is going to collapse and our numbers could have been lowered if the government stopped importing cases.

Why? What’s your reasoning? Why not relax the measures if we are nowhere near ICU capacity?

Because this stuff spreads like wildfire.

1 case becomes 5 before it's caught. 5 becomes 25...and then you are back to where we are in about 3 weeks after a lockdown....and off we go for another 2 months.

I think when we get to that stage..take a few extra days to be sure rather than risk another outbreak

Has anyone mapped today's results into Italian curve, how's the flattering going?

The median age is a bit worrying here at 43yrs old.

We want the median age to be as low as possible younger people wont require hospitalisation as much and we wont have as high a mortality rate as Italy which has a median rate of 63 although i think their figures are skewed if they have a high number of untested people

Median age of the Irish population is 38.2 years and given the reports of how asymptomatic the very young are, 43 is not that surprising.

When do they expect Italy to peak ? its been 10 days since total lockdown and still rising rapidly

Talking with an Italian colleague today , they think it's still another 7-10 days away.

I don't think this is worrying at all, it's the median age of the fatalities that we should be worried about, I know it's about 80 in Italy.

Isn't it better that our median age is low, meaning we will have less critical cases.
Sorry it goes against the doom grain in here.

That's the median age of infection, not death!

Why is the median age worrying? If anything, at least older people not contracting it more..

Well fire up the time machine so. Might as well send an email to those 140 countries as they might want to come with us.

Think this through - you're wearing the gloves to protect your hands from picking up the virus in the store. So assume this works, you touch something in the store that carries the virus, but it stays off your skin, and you dump the gloves outside the store. Perfect ....

HOWEVER, everything you touched while wearing the gloves may now be carrying the virus. Your wallet, cards, the outside packaging of everything you purchased. You still need to cleanse everything you touched with the gloves in order for the gloves to protect you.

That's why medical personnel change their gloves constantly.

I'm not saying they're useless, they have their place, but....

AFAIK they were hospitalising everyone in the early stage, partly to ensure their self-isolation...

That’s what I was thinking the reason was behind the high numbers makes sense.

I find not touching my face is the best option and hand washing coming in and out of the house.

Possibly, but only if they have the resources to test to be able to confirm the figures!

There are probably x10 the number of actual/unconfirmed cases in Italy (and many other countries).
