How the cock are health case workers getting infected?

They have more protection then the rest of us?

They have far more exposure than the rest of us. They can't wear protective equipment non-stop.

Heard from a reliable HSE source (a family member in a management role) that the majority of healthcare workers are associated with travel abroad.
In terms of hospitalizations, there is currently 8 people hospitalized in the CUH, 1 in ICU and the remainder (~35/40) are self-isolating at home. This correlates to the relatively young age of those infected.

Is there a link to the county by county break down today? Apologies I'm away from house so missed the update and a lot of pages on the thread. Also was there any update on deaths today?

Some jump today folks, expected that though:

Spreadsheet aswell as charts available here:
    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1IMavHMFAT59NaRmSJxfHIVxAhiT46CmzL0tj0Esqalc/edit?usp=sharing

Based on 5% of cases requiring critical hospital care, we very much don't want to see days in Ireland with >1,000 cases for any length of time. Ireland's health services may be able to cope with 50 new critical patients per day (on top of all the 'normal' critical patients they get) but only for a short period of time.

Won't the impacts of closing the schools and colleges be pushed back a few days by the knuckle draggers coming back from Cheltenham?

    Really?

I feel no sympathy whatsoever for anyone who went.

My own preference would be for each and every one of them to be hung by the balls.

Any idea of how many tests were run today compared to yesterday?

Today’s figures would be from tests done a few days ago. Before the increase in testing. Takes a few days afaik?

Indeed, they only got back 6 days ago : there wouldn't have been time to be infected and tested

Gangs of teens throwing stones at buses and cars are a usual feature in Cork, even the middle of a goddamn pandemic.

There's gangs of kids in this country a prison couldn't handle not to mind their retarded parents /parent.

No it`s not worst case. Leo specifically stated in his speech that it could be 15000 or more by the end of the month.

A colleague had his child tested today. He was told to expect it to take a week to get a result

It the number of tests done, by day tracked anywhere?

Its vital to understand the underlying position

Hopefully that will put manners on some people. It was quiet here where I live for the past few days but today with the fine weather all the kids were out again on the green, running around and blatantly not heeding any advice. People need to get it into their fcuking heads that they’re not on holidays.

12 hours turnaround for a hospital test (priority), 48-72 hours for a community test.

No county breakdown today, just what we got last night.

But there was one additional death, in the east.

They don't anticipate it increasing at this rate every day : today was clearly an outlier

Italy will surpass China in the next two days for total deaths and they haven't even have the cases yet. Its incredible that themselves and Spain are both being hit so hard with this. Culture must play a part, very similar in how they interact socially.

think the Italians are lumping in other types of deaths into the same category.

Actually it was based on an average daily reporting increase of 30%, yesterday we had 7%, today we have 158%!

I presume that death was the one the daughter was tweeting about yesterday.

It's worst case in that they only predict that if the school closures etc have no effect.

Dr Hoolan mentioned it last night
