Theres Cheltenham case already in hospital.

    Really?

I feel no sympathy whatsoever for anyone who went.

My own preference would be for each and every one of them to be hung by the balls.

Any idea of how many tests were run today compared to yesterday?

Today’s figures would be from tests done a few days ago. Before the increase in testing. Takes a few days afaik?

No its not, its the figure calculated from the daily 30% rise, today we had a 52% rise

Dr holohan just said these numbers are before cheltenham people got tested.

Indeed, they only got back 6 days ago : there wouldn't have been time to be infected and tested

Based on 5% of cases requiring critical hospital care, we very much don't want to see days in Ireland with >1,000 cases for any length of time. Ireland's health services may be able to cope with 50 new critical patients per day (on top of all the 'normal' critical patients they get) but only for a short period of time.

only 6 in ICU so far or was that statistic not updated ?

Any mention of the percentage of positive tests?

Gangs of teens throwing stones at buses and cars are a usual feature in Cork, even the middle of a goddamn pandemic.

There's gangs of kids in this country a prison couldn't handle not to mind their retarded parents /parent.

No it`s not worst case. Leo specifically stated in his speech that it could be 15000 or more by the end of the month.

A colleague had his child tested today. He was told to expect it to take a week to get a result

It the number of tests done, by day tracked anywhere?

Its vital to understand the underlying position

Hopefully that will put manners on some people. It was quiet here where I live for the past few days but today with the fine weather all the kids were out again on the green, running around and blatantly not heeding any advice. People need to get it into their fcuking heads that they’re not on holidays.

12 hours turnaround for a hospital test (priority), 48-72 hours for a community test.

Is there a link to the county by county break down today? Apologies I'm away from house so missed the update and a lot of pages on the thread. Also was there any update on deaths today?

No county breakdown today, just what we got last night.

But there was one additional death, in the east.

They don't anticipate it increasing at this rate every day : today was clearly an outlier

Italy will surpass China in the next two days for total deaths and they haven't even have the cases yet. Its incredible that themselves and Spain are both being hit so hard with this. Culture must play a part, very similar in how they interact socially.

think the Italians are lumping in other types of deaths into the same category.

Actually it was based on an average daily reporting increase of 30%, yesterday we had 7%, today we have 158%!

I presume that death was the one the daughter was tweeting about yesterday.

It's worst case in that they only predict that if the school closures etc have no effect.

Dr Hoolan mentioned it last night

No underlying condition indicated for the 3rd death according to Dr T

There is plenty of reason to disbelieve their figures, for instance they originally tried to hide it and imprisoned whistleblowers and it took till early february for them to start recording deaths from it correctly and accurately

I put that down the inept Wuhan local government. Once the central government got involved the best and brightest in China were sent to the frontlines.
They don't care what outsiders think so I doubt they would fudge the numbers.

Earlier on RTE quoted Monday’s figure that out of the 226 cases 86% required hospitalisation why such a high figure is that a quarantine measure ? or is it that those cases were very serious?

Most of that increase could be from idiots coming back from Cheltenham, and the FaceBook warriors in the Supermarket meltdown last Thursday.

But if not, and it may be too early to tell admittedly, there could be another huge spike soon.

Most of us are begging for a lockdown now. Well I am anyway because many people are just total idiots right now. Not all, but the actions of the few affect the many.

Half of them caught it in hospital

I think your may be partially right but welding people into apartments and asking people to stop being stupid (proper social distancing) obviously yield different results.

There are people in Ireland still not getting this. I’ve had to be very careful who I have tried to warn on this up until recently but in the last few days I know somebody who has been getting worse and worse. I’m not posting anymore then that here but even people on this thread don’t know how much this news is making me even more worried for us all. I’ve been taking a lot of care but I’m now hearing a first hand account of how devastating this can be.

I’ve started warning friends and family even more now and don’t care if it scares people. I’d rather scare sense into people then say nothing. I’m sad because a lot of what I’m telling people now might of helped this person last week but as I said , a lot of people haven’t wanted to listen to me so I’ve sort of said very little.

I don’t disagree at all. I actually don’t believe any of the stats because of the differences in the testing regimes everywhere. All we know is the number that tested positive (of the ones tested).
