Have you rung your GP to see what he thinks?

My wife did, she is on the waiting list for a test (she would Probably be considered medium risk) . If she’s got it, I’ve got it.

I really hope those testers doing drive through testing disinfect between each test. Sticking their hands in people's mouths is asking for spreading covid19 if they don't get it right.

I'd say they haven't thought of that at all.

I was coughing more in the morning and few times during the day and getting phlegm up. This is maybe an indication of not having Corvid as the doctor said non producing cough is more typical. He said the symptoms can vary a lot though. Same with the fact that I had no temperature. The fact that I am a bit breathless now is why he is thinking a possible case.
One (very rough, non-clinical) test of chest infection would be the ability to hold your breath for 10secs (assuming this can be done easily beforehand).

If in doubt, don't go out.

MOD-This horsesh!t has been debunked already.

Nearly 50 new cases in Singapore, think they got too relaxed there recently . A friend of mine lives there and they were posting pictures of a street party there, nobody wearing masks gloves or anything

Dunno if its been discussed but the fact Ciara Kelly (Newstalk Radio Presenter - former GP) can get a test on a Sunday and get results back in 2 days shows the inequality in this society.

I have had a lot of the symptoms since Saturday, finally rang doctor Monday and still waiting to get the test, never mind the results. In the meantime I am getting better and could recover by time I get the blood thing!

Parts of UK finally doing the right thing:

Schools in Scotland are to close at the end of this week, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said.

All schools in Wales will close for an early Easter break by Friday at the latest, the Welsh government has announced.

Herd immunity is usually achieved through a vaccination program; as is the case with measles, mumps and HPV, to name a few.

Herd immunity isn’t normally administered through letting a virulent virus run through a society without a vaccination program.
Herd immunity is a phenomenon which has naturally ocurred in humans for 199,800 years. And other species for much longer.

We've been able to accelerate it and influence it via vaccination for the last 200 years.

In this case, I am referring to the approach of allowing herd immunity to happen naturally, and even accelerate it if possible through increased mixing.

The alternative is that everybody sits at home for 18 months waiting for a vaccine. People will die anyway, the economy will be ruined, our mental health will be ruined etc.

Its nothing to do with being obsessed with celebrities, its more to do with being able to put a face to the virus, meaning more of the deniers & naysayers might take it a bit more seriously.

The more famous people that come out with this, the more "real" it will feel to the public. The more real it feels, the better the chance they'll wash their hands, observe social distancing, and take other precautions, thus contributing to the delay of the spread.
    That's why its a relief.

Exactly. Much better to have faces to those affected and be able to follow their journey, than have this mysterious ominous illness wash throughout society with thousands affected yet nobody willing to come forward and say they have it. That would make people panic more because we’d be wondering why. I know a lot would have felt relief that Tom Hanks and his wife are managing well and have been released from hospital. It’s good to get a rounded picture.

And you understand the potential consequences for society if you take this approach?

All of that in bold will happen anyway but the recovery time will be even greater.

You are advocating a long term, scorched earth policy.

Herd Immunity without a vaccine program is like playing Russian Roulette.

Hence why the British are rowing back on it.

It might also work in a smaller population.

I'm classified as a potential case by my doctor.

Some symptoms for two weeks but today quite breathless and sore chest. Could be unrelated chest infection or could be Covid.

Good news is that if it is Covid I am probably not shedding the virus as it has been two weeks. Been told to self isolate for another week as a precaution.

Same here. I am quite concerned by the breathlessness. I was symptom free for two weeks and am now suffering from a chest infection it would appear.

Trump back to his petulant nasty self again singling out the pharmaceutical companies based in Ireland saying we need to make our drugs here in the USA.

99% surely that number will go down, if not then isolatibg certain members of the community is the way to go.

I have stated the consequences already. It is not a scorched earth policy once you effectively isolate those most at risk.

It is the best approach. It is much easier to isolate old and unhealthy people for 6 months than it is to isolate the entire population for 18 months.

Well, using a Corona virus press conference as a platform for that type of crap.
And he called it the "Chinese" virus in the same conference.
Not sure if you were being sarky, but he is a knob.

High blood pressure is an 'underlying condition'.

Most elderly folk I know, parents included, have high blood pressure and are taking medication for it.

Trump will be more interested in getting production out of China, which is a good move. im not sure what is nasty about that? arent France and Germany banning exports of medical equipment. Maybe the HSE should be looking at a but of self sufficiency if we cant trust foreign suppliers

America does not the concept of "society".It is really each man for himself over there and Trump is the worst example of it.Nasty piece of goods.

Eurovision cancelled. Well, not all bad suppose.

My daughter is really upset by this news. It's such a pity that they couldn't run it even with just videos and let people vote.

For some people Eurovision is a highlight of their year and I reckon it would have been boosted spirits (though obviously not for everyone).
