All countries on the planet including those in the EU will be seriously affected by this crisis. I think there will have to be a complete reset of the global financial system. What that will be I don`t know.

I can't remember who mentioned it here first, but this could be the push some states need to give Universal Basic Income a lash.

When they say a dry cough is one of the symptoms, that is a cough where nothing comes up right? Like no mucus? Sorry to be gross

That's my understanding of it anyway.

So would you put the economy before saving life’s?

Facehugger doesn't seem to grasp that going for a Herd immunity type approach would destroy the economy anyway when 20% of those that catch the virus need to be hospitalised and a number, 5%-7%, need ICU treatment. More health workers will get it which means less health workers to run the health system.

Facehugger also seems to neglect the fact that a number of people with other illnesses, will be adversely affected by the virus bringing down the health system.

Facehugger thinks this is a head cold/flu thingy that is being overplayed. Only caught by the elderly and people should just get on with it.

What a lot of people here are advocating is take the pain now and recover economically in 5 years.

Facehugger wants to elongate the pain and have an economic and social collapse that will take 20+ years to recover from.

Sorry, I misread what you said. I’m in the exact same boat as you.

Get some sheets, fold in two and cut a hole in the head for them. Get carers to wear them then wash at 90 after each use.
Have hand wash in bathroom for them to wash when they arrive. Have front door open so they don’t touch handles (wash it down each time regardless.
Go on to amazon and order conti dry wipes (or equivalent). PLEASE EVERYONE ELSE DONT BUY THESE UP! Buy the smaller ones for making disposable face masks. There’s a few videos going around of how to do this with wet wipes

I do know that the HSE and agencies are taking on as many staff as possible so that they can try and have the same carers going to the same houses. At least to limit contagion. I know over the years that I’ve been told to do the course and I’ve said “hell no” I wanted my life back. But now, if I lose my folks, I’ll be volunteering.

If you want to have a chat or a rant then PM me. I’ll be your ear xxx

I'll be supplying them with a clean towel to dry their hands and wipes for the taps to use before and after handwashing. I will be going public with this. I don't have the sheets to destroy and I shouldn't have to be doing that. I wllbe going public with this this. Home hpsychology deserve to be adequately protected and so their clients.

    25 deaths? That's a significant fall isn't it?

I think deaths tell us more about this virus than anything else, about the prevalence and how well control measures are working.

That won't be their final tally of the day, unfortunately

If youre made redundant over this then your employer will have to pay you your redundancy at some stage or if they can’t afford it you’ll get it from the Social Insurance fund.
In the meantime apply for the emergency payment and slap in a proper jobseekers application too.

Not a good sign and it's not even midday
    German 9919 +552 cases +26 dead
    Belgium 1486 +243 cases
    Austria 1471+139 cases

Those who have fully recovered from coronavirus and with antibodies could be highly valued as carers in the next few weeks and months.

I think spain has some some type of rollover count in the morning and then they have another later

Kind of funny (or sad) that the macho 'uber-capitalist' people that just want to get on with it & let the virus run its course etc seem to be showing less regard for human life + general society than the Chinese communist party of all people.

I really think this reflects badly on the HSE.

They couldn't solve the trolley crisis for years and then something like CV comes along and suddenly it solves itself overnight.

There was clearly a dysfunctional approach to solving the trolley crisis up to now, people on trolleys who shouldn't have been there and people now making miraculous recoveries.

They're cancelling non-serious operations and, in some cases, serious operations! They're preparing for what's coming.

Yeah, if you're spraying mucus everywhere it's a productive cough.

where are those more detailed stats? for some people like me it whats get through to us

are the HSE still counting travel, local community or is there no point anymore with many possible sources? I'd certainly like the stats on this from the last week, they stopped giving them out on the 13th https://www.gov.ie/en/news/7e0924-latest-updates-on-covid-19-coronavirus/ to me it'd be interesting to see when it was the unknown community sources passed out travel and local sources.

local known contacts passed out travel on the 12th

Regina doherty said on radio earlier that they are discussing contingency plans for casual workers/reduced days etc.

Yeah. And 65 deaths now reported just to illustrate this.

If you want an accurate timetable of when countries release their numbers - ask kermitt

There are reports of reinfection so it is not as simple as that.

our retail store closed down yesterday. Our store had 60euro in for the day before. There is no one aroubd and anyone is,ain't shopping for new clothes, they are buying groceries and that's it.

    Home DIY.

We should defend our way of life to an extent that any attempt on it is crushed, so that any adversary will never make such an attempt in the future.

There are no reports of reinfection. Rather the infection had never cleared properly in the first place.

I'm classified as a potential case by my doctor.

Some symptoms for two weeks but today quite breathless and sore chest. Could be unrelated chest infection or could be Covid.

Good news is that if it is Covid I am probably not shedding the virus as it has been two weeks. Been told to self isolate for another week as a precaution.

The reality is the disease is out of control here and no one will take responsibility for the lack of measures that allowed it to get out of control.

100%. Leo cut pay for the Gardai, Drs and Nurses, but he read a prepared PR speech and now he’s great.

Multiple posts like this. You need to check official sources for the info on that.(google GOV) Social media may give you the info, hovever is not official, and therefore is hit and miss.

I don't think the herd immunity approach can work. It just means an uncontrolled spread. It would also take at least a year for the whole population to be infected which means isolating the elderly for at least a year which is not really practical. The elderly are highly dependent on a range of supports both inside and outside the home including going to hospitals. Its hard to receive cancer treatment at home for example. Nice idea in theory but not practical in reality, something those knighted scientists in their ivory towers didn't get.
