Anyway do we even know if many of those fans even came over?

Whatsapp says millions came over and every single one was infected.

China gives you all the information you need. Lock a country down completely, treat as many as you can. Some will die most will recover. It's a virus

22 new infections in China today. 19 of those travelled from overseas.

3 weeks from now new cases in Italy will be dropping quickly. Quote me on that.
Life will go on. The economic effects for all will be much more severe and long lasting

We all hope so. But for Christ sake you're a random internet poster. I presume you don't have the qualifications to make such statements. It would be naive to trust Chinese figures. South Korea ok. But every country is different. And lockdown is different country to country too.

The positive tests seem to be plateauing in Italy. Or maybe 3,500 is a figure which corresponds to the max amount of tests they can do. The death rate is still dreadful.

Most of the population are in the east (Dublin and surroundings to be exact). Its denser than anywhere else too. This is bigger than Italian rugby fans coming over now.

Id wonder is it that they have more testing facilities in Dublin and thats why so many numbers are showing up that side of the country and not elsewhere?
When you consider the amount of people from all over the country who travel to and from Dublin daily, no doubt the figures are higher in the west and south than we realise. Dublin will always get first priority in testing and health care.

Well for all those who say the government are doing a good job, the issue of the Italian rugby fans showed otherwise. Those flights should have been banned. It was utterly incompetent to postpone a game but allow the fans to come.

Banning air travel without WHO direction was impossible. Looking back on actions not taken will always show things in a bad light. But I think we are being seen as doing the most before others. U.K. allowing stereophonic concerts with tens of thousands on Friday night is disgusting. U.K. teachers on social media asking do they have to attend school worse.

I do know that and how exponential growth works in general but why are we going to have the highest exponential growth rate of any western country? If we hit 15k two days faster than Italy then that will confirm it.

Too slow to react and keep importing more people with it.

With the airports still open it's like the country is a sinking ship and you are tackling the hole below the water line but no matter how good you patch it up there's a steady new flow coming in that you simply can never stop until the airports are shut down.

Call the cops on them. The numbers are on the streets to respond. They can't stop it by law, (yet) but it might scare /shame a few of them.

The growh rate is exponential, it's doubling ever 3-4 days.

We are following the Italian trajectory. 1 infection on the first of march leads to tens of thousands by first of April.

    April fool :pac:

Mate, I think if you are asking yourself that question, you probably know the answer.

Are there any back office functions you can help with? Alternatively the option of the welfare is there.

Any employer worth there salt will understand and when we come out the other side (which we will) help you out.

    Best of luck!

Some came. From what i've read and seen, Dublin seems to have plenty of Italian visitors in recent weeks including some who have decided to stay with friends here. There is a huge Italian community in Dublin both recent arrivals and those here for years.

Looking at the UK response where they still seem behind us in shutdown terms, why are we going to come out worse?

Hubby and I (early to mid 60s) have been almost self-isolating for the past 5 days. Son No 2. lives with us and is working for a house removal company who don't give a flying f**k. He told them today by txt that he was concerned about going into all sorts of homes in the mid west of Ireland this week and possibly carrying home whatever to us, his compromised parents.. Txt reply was "We'll keep going as long as we can"

It's much better to prepare for the worst and get those ventilators as soon as we can .

Oh I agree about that, but on a social level I feel we should reel it in a bit. Fear can even make us do the right things tackling this virus but no excuse for some posts on here over the past few weeks that obviously wanted to distill fear in people.

Here's a wild idea, ring your shift manager or other such supervisor in the morning? It would be quite a stroke of luck for that person to be an active poster on this thread, this very minute.

Full shutdown for the weekend plus either side of Patrick's day, we were quiet , if there is supposed to be a lockdown I was thinking piling 150 people into close proximity wasn't a great idea, I was wondering was there any official advice, nothing else

If you had 100% health, I'd say yes.

With your underlying conditions however, the HSE advice is definitely not. Your life is more important than the business right now.

So, just so I can follow, is this Airport, or. The Poseidon Adventure?
