When watching Leo address the nation did anyone else feel like they were in the scene from the film Armageddon when it jumps around all the world leaders addressing their nations?.... It's all abit surreal.

If Bruce was on the job we'd have this sorted :D

Personally, I felt Leo excelled tonight. And Simon Coveney as you said. The aim of addressing the nation should be to instill confidence that the right leadership is at the helm, when it's most needed.

For me anyway, the message hit home.

    It wasn't a criticism :)

I think he's in a completely different league to Boris or trump.

The seriousness just reminded me of the Armageddon scene that's all :)

He has half the country scared to sleep most likely, "calm before the storm"

talking about all the money we will have to pay back (not the time to be talking about that)

nothing about how we have overcome way worse in our history. fcuks sake Leo but that didnt inspire me in the slightest.

When do we think the soothsayers will come out and say they had mirages last year about CoVid 19?

Lads, imagine if the shinners, the greens and a selection box of independents were in charge?

I think Fine Gael will romp home in the next election.

That's the reality and some people are refusing to accept it. More drastic measures are to follow.

It's not scaremongering, it's not meant to be inspiring, it's reality.

He only scared you. He gave a rousing speech that inspired confidence, showed leadership, and kicked bishop Boris up the arse.

He didnt scare me, I have been saying all along that we will be ok but I know the country is full of people who are terrified, the ones who went off buying 100 toilet rolls last week.

His speech didnt inspire any confidence in my opinion.

No Leo or indeed fg fan but he’s doing a super job right now and I’d vote fg in a heartbeat in another election

You said he had half the country scared to sleep. If anything he stepped up and said the government would do everything they could to help in the event of things going south.
I went off and bought a rake of toilet paper and I wasn’t and am still not terrified.
But I suspect you’re a little put out by Leo tonight for one reason or another.

Was getting apprehensive when I heard Leo was addressing the nation tonight I find he has a tendency to be overt about the rise in the virus - I don't think he's wrong I just don't want to hear it.
Listening with whiskey in hand and it was like being transported to an ancient, unfamiliar era - this is an emergency and we all need to work together and yet, stand apart (●´∀`)ノ♡

I'm bedside now and nicely chilled and sleepy - feel like I'm cocooned already - night all.

I know i am propagating this every few months. But for me it’s a source of a lots of fun and entertainment. Be it old fashioned b/w films, books of all genres, software or just something to do a bit of recherche.

Just register for free with an email address and you can ‘borrow’ books for a fortnight on your tablet, Kindle or computer. Others are free to download anyway. For the borrowing you need the free...

...for storage and reading on your device.

As the german/ french border in my area is closed since yesterday i hope to get my final shopping done tomorrow. At least these pesky Alsatians can not buy all my flour, yeast, noodles and...toilet paper. 😂

Yes, I remember you mentioning it; it’s why I responded, remember?

Had he not stated that borrowings would have to be repaid, his critics would’ve complained about him promising free cash. Had he not addressed the calm before the storm, he would’ve been criticised for patronising the public and withholding information.

He gave an honest account of how it is, and what might be ahead, but in his shoes, you clearly would’ve handled it differently, and much much more appropriately.
