Well my internet wasn't stable enough to handle RTEs broadcast so I have completely missed out the warm glow.
I'm getting 15,000, cocooning, capes and precious, a serious vibe, but no extra measures. Alright, back to work we go so. Unavoidably being with lots of people all day long.

Leo is trying to scare us with this talk of 15,000 cases, which is an enormous number for a country of our size.

Just on that point about the numbers being big for a country our size, it unfortunately doesn't work like that. Exponential growth is like a fire - no matter where you start it, it will grow at the same rate up to the point it has consumed the available fuel. So if you start an infection in the states and here at the same time, it will grow at the same rate once it gets going. The only difference will be when it gets towards 100% of the available population (e.g. the last couple of doubles from say 1million to 2million to 4 million would be slower as it gets more difficult to find an uninfected person. That in effect is what herd immunity is).

Of course, Leo is a visual symbol of the response of our government, and lots of others behind the scenes.

It's what we see. His personal performance on the job matters of course, but this is no one man show. People know that.

Wasting your time if they can't even grasp the basics of how a government is not one person.

'And for those complaining that he's frightening people.. well I'm sorry but we need to be afraid. This is scary. This is scary as f*cking hell and its the people who aren't afraid that are making matters worse. This needs to be taken seriously. Not a little serious. A whole lot of serious. If you're looking for reassurances that this isn't bad, tough luck. This is bad and I'd prefer my Taoiseach to say it like it is.'

I agree with this. Speech was fine but as I said no De valera.

    Trolley crisis is gone.

18 people waiting today because pissed up arse holes aren't clogging it up like has been for years.

    Lowest ever.

Lot of lessons been learned from.this.

    Both myths.

A&E departments never been so quiet apart from Covid19 patients. Homeless crisis another myth because Jacinta wants a forever home for her, Callum and Taylor.

I say there still in meetings with the banks and utility companies in relation to what they will do I expect something more in a day or 2

I think this will come. Not an easy task to organise these things.

Exactly.not 2 weeks ago he was staring into a flood like a donkey looking up at the moon and all the talk of flood relief and works carried out to prevent it happening.

I think posts from mates on whatsapp and facebook should be ok.
Just don't post if it comes from a mate of a mate as that's too unreliable.

Remember folks, the most important part of his speech was that there is a big Bill coming and it needs to be paid.

Emergency budget in a month to increase tax rates without a doubt.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

The Taoiseach literally just said to not be spreading ****e on the internet. If someone dies from the virus it’ll be reported on the news, don’t worry.

    Absolutely right.

I am OAP and have a medical card so I don't pay.
A few months ago I wanted to renew an ongoing prescription and they
insisted I see the doctor and on the way out they asked me for €50. before they realized I had the card.

Saw the guy for less than 5 minutes.

It's this sort of rip off that has to be brought to and end in this country.

It's this sort of injustice that Leo should be judged on. Not some rousing speech he made that was written by someone else.

FFS. It's not an injustice to pay a professional a reasonable fee for their time.

And even if it was, don't be rabbiting on about it now when we're, effectively, in the middle of a war.

A lot of criticism of social media in government circles and of course by mainstream media.
They'd love to shut it down if they could.

Leo is thoroughly unlikeable. Disingenuous .

And 30 quid for a phone call to a GP. Gouging bastards. Heroes my bollocks.

Bravo to speech. However, masking lack of planning re testing kits and equipment. Wtf have the HSE been doing for the last month? The fûkin dogs on the street knew what was needed. Quoting Churchill FFS, Enda kennyesque.

There's nobody on trolleys. This just proves the GPs and the old folks homes are the reason our a+e's are full. We just need better triage

He referenced Churchill's Battle of Britain speech.

    Solid speech.

If there was a General Election after the crisis, he could get a result

Now are you suggesting he could do something like that :P:P:P

I bet Michael and Mary Lou are saying why the hell did we not think of that

Excellent speech by Leo, I actually got quite emotional. But the comments about there being a surge and the calm before the storm is quite frightening, but I suppose it was intentional to make everyone realise how serious this was. Up until last week when I was told that I'd be working from home for the foreseeable, I really thought it was media scaremongering. The reality is only setting in now
