I think the policy is to give us the bad news in dribs and drabs so that each bit is absorbed and accepted before the next one hits us.

That would make it around 50,000 cases in a month’s time, I think.

A couple of questions. How did this virus start
Did a Chinese man take a liking to eat a contaminated bat in some remote area of Wuhan? Also what happens during a lockdown. I presume you can go for walks, cycled and the supermarket s are still open. Does public transport run in a lockdown?

all I want from Leo is honest about how long this is going to go on for, best scientific estimate, so we can plan on that basis

There’s viral, then there’s viral - this is viral viral- I reckon we’ll be asked to do jumping jacks at dawn every day to keep fit and sing “I love my leader, Leo”
I, for one, will be going underground- preferably underground my beloved chip shop :P

    I'm guessing it'll simply be a

    Thanks for all your help
Appreciate the public doing their best
    We have tough times ahead
Things are going to get worse before better
We may need to introduce more serious measures

    Type of speech.

No doubt social media will have him closing the border, army stopping movement etc though. They have 20min to speculate.

Not sure if I've seen Contagion.

Did any of these dystopian pandemic movies ever feature scenes of loockdowns like what's happening now in some countries?

watched it the other night. Its eerily close to what is happening now. worth a peep.

Surely in a situation like this, it's never too early to have a shutdown?

Where is the logic in wanting til numbers start rising to have a shutdown?

Because we need people to be infected. The health system comes near capacity, Lockdown. The beds free up, back to work, numbers rise again, lockdown. Thats what you can expect going forward. Brits have now moved to this same model but late to the party.

I think it will be more gradual. They shut the pubs only a few days ago. That's a big ask for this country.

They need the population to willingly comply with these measures for some time.

Actually contagion has just that, where families are effectively locked in house. Haven’t watched it in awhile but there are a few things Simile like groups jostling for vaccine (Trump move).

Doubt itll be 29th of March, doing my LC this year. Hopefully its after the easter holidays were back to normal.

Not a hope. What I could see happening is LC and JC classes brought back maybe 2 or 3 days a week to prepare for the exams but all other classes will be suspended till September at the earliest or possibly August if the spread was well Under control by then.

Not a fan of Leo or his party but I have been impressed with his and his governments actions even if they are only following advice. It is obvious they are listening to experts and the good of the people seems to be their collective priority, although all the other parties seem to giving their support aswell. Corny I know but we are all in this together, the virus does not discriminate.

Full Chinese type lockdown, no public transport stay home except for a limited number of trips for food. No walks or cycles.
