"Asymptomatic and mildly symptomatic transmission are a major factor in transmission for Covid-19," said Dr. William Schaffner, a professor at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and longtime adviser to the CDC. "They're going to be the drivers of spread in the community."

    https://edition.cnn.com/2020/03/14/health/coronavirus-asymptomatic-spread/index.html

See, this is what I don’t get. If this is correct (and I actually think he’s right) then how can China have, as they claim, almost eradicated it from the country. Unless they have tested absolutely everyone in China, then surely there must be 100s of 1000s of unknown asymptomatic people in the country.

Wonder if the casts of TV soaps go into isolation before the cameras?

    Art imitating life?

(Don't watch soaps so no idea if they're doing this already)

I think weekly episodes will be cut to one or two to show what has already only been filmed, they film 4 to 6 weeks in advance

Live in Bray and took a walk and went to supermarket.

People have no idea about social distancing at all. Saw a queue at chipper on seafront and people on top of each other queuing.

Then in Lidl, with clear floor distance markings, a man, not that young, stood right next to me, far too close for even normal times. I asked him had he not heard of social distancing and he just said sorry.

Also, saw a few groups of teenagers hanging around together all very close.

Nothing is going to stop this behaviour except an enforced lockdown.

    Idiots.

Some people in this country are just thick.

Petrol stations should have a person pumping the fuel. The spread on those pumps much be huge considering the thousands of hands that handle them.

Varadkar will be handed a statement that has been written by his EU leaders. So anything is possible since the EU is a fascist dictatorship.

    Seriously, stop this political rubbish.

Ireland has taken decisons that other EU nations haven't. Look at the Netherlands as an example.

Ireland is not doing too badly in all of this when you look at the numbers.

Time to work together and get through this instead of cheap and pointless shots at politicians.

Why are they using the 30% figure going forwards?

I think 30 % may be on the higher side . If we compare Ireland to other nations with the same density of population in Europe the number should be around 10-15% increase per day and not 30 % per day.

    - Tulsa County's first positive COVID-19 case has recovered. This individual has had two negative tests, which is the indicator of recovery.

    - All 7 patients who were getting treated for at Safdarjung hospital in New Delhi have recovered.

    - Plasma from newly recovered patients from COVID-19 can treat others infected by COVID-19.

Even fully healthy people cough and sneeze. And yawn. And put their hands in their mouth/nose and then touch things.

It applies to a % of any population. A % aren't very bright. It's not unique to this country.
