These are the strangest of times for sure. Not only do people have to worry about a threat to their physical health, but their mental health too. Not only are people afraid of themselves or their loved ones catching the virus, they’re afraid they won’t have a job to walk into next week. Anyone who scoffs at the mental health effects this will have on people need to get a grip. While the recession was crippling, at the very least people could still visit loved ones. Now not only can you not go anywhere or do much of anything, but there is a physical distance between most families and loved ones too.

Our recovery numbers are practically 0 (5) That's crazy, countries with same amount of cases , Singapore have 114 recovered.
Why is no one recovering ?

Because we have only identified cases within the last 17 days, they will need time to recover. It will rise in the coming days.

When are City Council meetings due to be suspended, or at all?

My dad, in his 70's, is still attending these and I think it's so unnecessary. There should have been plans to bring them online?

Time. It takes time. We have only cases for a couple of weeks. Takes a number of weeks to recover.

Silvio Berlusoni has donated €10,000,000 to Lombardy hospitals! Bravo!

That's 0.002% of his $5,700,000,000 Net Worth (Forbes)

Or ~ €50 for a person on an average Italian net annual salary.

    Mediaset Trial (convicted):
    Estimated €62,000,000 total tax fraud

Would you have preferred if he donated nothing?

    How much have you donated?

I cant see schools or anything returning to normal this year. Beginning to think that its going to be in to 2021 before stuff starts getting back on track.

    Its a disgrace Joe!

Possible that the virus had already infected anyone readily susceptible to it? Which would be even better news in a way...

That was one of the areas under strict quarantine from the start so that's unlikely. Also whole town tested and 3% had it. Here's more info. Shows measures and testing works in short space of time.
The first testing round, carried out on the town’s entire population in late February, found 3 per cent of the population infected, though half of the carriers had no symptoms. After isolating all those infected, the second testing round about 10 days later showed the infection rate had dropped to 0.3 per cent.

Importantly, however, this second round identified at least six individuals who had the virus but no symptoms, meaning they could be quarantined. “If they hadn’t been identified, the infection would have resumed,” explained Prof Crisanti.

An infection control experiment that was rolled out in a small Italian community at the start of Europe’s coronavirus crisis has stopped all new infections in the town that was at the centre of the country’s outbreak.

Through testing and retesting of all 3,300 inhabitants of the town of Vò, near Venice, regardless of whether they were exhibiting symptoms, and rigorous quarantining of their contacts once infection was confirmed, health authorities have been able to completely stop the spread of the illness there.

Number of new cases & deaths are consistent last 3 days too, looks like they are at the top of their curve thankfully, will hopefully see their numbers drop within the next few days.

If say 50 cases were discovered 2 weeks ago, and 50 cases discovered today, does that mean we have 50 active cases, as the first 50 are now recovered.

I keep seeing people say we how have 292 cases, but how can you keep adding up the cases of 14 days ago when they are recovered? Surely we how have over a 100 recovered?

It can take up to 40 days to fully recover.

Went into McDonalds yesterday ( maintaining my distance of course) and was quite shocked to see staff wearing no gloves handling food ... especially given the circumstances.

    People get obsessed about gloves.

If the gloves touch a surface with the virus on it then the virus is on the gloves then the gloves will pass it on to anything it contacts.

Good hand hygiene is more important.

Go into good restaurants and food is handled by hands all the time. No harm in it once good hand hygiene is observed.

Christ this lad...keep people away from each other as much as possible! Why do you think the gov wants you to work from home if possible?

Bunch of people in a kitchen, one is infected and infects everyone else. Each of them infect 3 others each and on and on...

Economy is fcuked lad, forget it. Right now it's all about slowing the spread. That's all that matters.

Which do you think would slow the spread more, a couple 100 people fighting over bog roll and bread in a supermarket or a restaurant with high hygiene standards putting food through a hatch to people in a car??

The knock-on effect of a total shutdown of everything in the country for an extended period will cost more lives than it will save

Why is no one recovering ?

Most folks have only just been confirmed. Most of those are folks who probably needed some form of treatment, so you wouldn't expect them to have recovered yet.

It can take ages to recover if you are unlucky.

A medic from Italy summed up the problem :-

While new patients are being admitted to the Sacco Hospital, one of the largest medical centers in Italy, every five minutes, Galli said virus-free patients are being discharged every two or three hours.

"We are getting close to not being able to accept new patients. There is a complete saturation of beds,"
