He can through tax incentives. A couple of years back he brought serious amount of corporate taxes back to the US through an amnesty if I remember correctly. It would be a huge political win for him to increase US control on their supply chains

    Exactly.
Some people put one of our advantages re pharma and IT tech as being English speaking in Europe which is just not true.
I speak regularly with companies in France, Austria Finland. They all speak perfect English.
Our tax haven is what attracted these companies and only that.
If the corporation tax is amended in the US, Ireland doesn’t look so attractive anymore.

There's the flu and at least one other seasonal virus doing the rounds aswell on top of this bastard of a yoke.

Imagine getting smashed with all 3 at once.

How many people are actually in hospital in Ireland due to covid 19 at present? Is it the 5 or 6 people in critical care only?

No, there's more and its going to get a hell of a lot worse.

People moaning about how long it's going to last might want to realise that we haven't even got started yet.

A comedy with Kurt Russel? All I can think of is Overboard. But you should just watch The Thing if you want Kurt Russel at his best.

That Moderna test has been flagged although I thought it was supposed to be in April. Long long way to go.
    Very true.

The apparent drop in daily numbers for Europe today at 08:00 hrs may be due to two day's reporting from Italy yesterday.

    The trend remains upwards.

That's complete rubbish, pharma companies are here purely for transfer pricing reasons and we all know this. They are saving billions by locating in Ireland completely ripping of the American consumer. The US gov need to be smart and they will get them back.

It will cost them billions to relocate back. Why havent they done it before now if this is the case. Why trump needed to bring this up now I dont know.

    Two days?

The WHO have reported Italian numbers daily right up to yesterdays report. I though the ECDC were doing the same?

If the situation carries on into the summertime will the increase in temperature make a difference. I'd be more worried then as having to sit inside during high temperatures is going to be very uncomfortable for people and would make them more likely to spend time outdoors.

You are clearly not living in Ireland. We don’t get high temperatures here. Averages in summer range from 15-20 max. High temperatures (25+) are not very common and short lived when we do get them.

Because he is talking out of his arse.

Maybe countries do need to look at multinationals and the power they have over production and distribution and the pack of power of countries. He may have a point.

However they are private companies and can't just be ordered around.
