So it might be nice to assume that is a worse case scenario figure...
It's a ridiculous figure. Suggesting 3000 cases for every million. Italy has 462 per million.

Beats someone coughing or sneezing on you.

It might do something to stop a direct cough or sneeze, but it won't stop human breath, which will get over, under and around something like that with ease.

I means that those that die are dieing faster than those that are due to recover are making a full recovery. Italy critical health service is so over capacity that it's in a triage situation where those with the least chance of making it are being left to die.

Italian doctors having to make tough calls with only so many ventilators to go around.
The strategy is to help the least sick
recover as quickly as possible. If the really sick are given the ventilators first then the hospitals will collapse under the pressure.
This is why the U.K. want all OAPs to self isolate for 4 months.

Sounds like someone just typed in a formula in Excel and dragged it down. Using such "analysis" we are going to get 10 million infected in Ireland by mid-April. Wait, there are only 5 million here.

That's not how viruses work. They don't infect 10 million people when there's only 5 million.

It's like saying if it take €10 out of my account, that only has €100 in it, for 30 days, I'll eventually have €300

No, he's only prepared to talk about the next fortnight.

He said the figure could 'theoretically' go to 100k or 1m but he's not in a position to predict that.

    Person asked Trump

'' on a scale to 1-10 how would you rate your response to this virus''

    Trump

    '' 10''

I was expecting him to say 100 out of 10, he’s losing his touch

That's 3000 people per million. Italy has 462 cases per million.

But Italy's cases will also increase.

Forgive my ignorance, is aftershave /mouthwash any addition alcohol wise in helping with protection. I read that pouring mouthwash on to baby wipes is almost as good as sanitation

Trump just gave himself a modest 10 out of 10 for managing the crisis.

He is an abomination. Not an ounce of leadership in his make up. It's all about deflection.

Sounds to me like Leo is saying he doesnt want to stop people from getting the virus but just to slow it down. That's why the social distancing continues.

He also said this problem was unseen

I'm just an ordinary Joe but back in December when this emerged in China I remember thinking we'd be fcuked if that spread outside China...

Shout out to all the geniuses in here running off an exponential distribution for 60 or so days and pretending it's important that the results are ridiculous, you're due a Nobel any day now.

It's exponential in the medium term, that is borne out by data.

No, he wants to stop it....he's not into that herd immunity nonsense.

He's saying throw everything at the virus and slow it down.

But this would be the worst case worldwide. I thought we were on top of it, not making the mistakes of others, but learning from them as to avoid such numbers.

RTÉ News Now is on Sky 521, Saorview 21, Virgin Media 200 and Eir 500.

I also have the RTÉ News Now App and that has an option for “live” in the top right corner, I use this if I’m out and about.

    29,000 points on Feb 24 2020.
