What's the story with the PS card? I was never offered an appointment to get one. I had no objection to it, would have attended. Everyone I know except me has one. I've never been in receipt of a state payment so I just assumed it wasn't an option to just get one.

It says it in the video - he was in contact with someone who tested positive, so he chose to get tested because the infection has an incubation period of up to 14 days.

Randox are based in Antrim they are exporting Covid test kit and reagents to China . 4 hour testing afaik ... Surely this world leader should be active in NI and RoI. Media very shy on testing .. also v shy on Ventilators and Masks....

Spain have brought in legislation on masks and UK have asked for factories to produce ventilators.

We have a factory (Galway?) for ventillators but that would be an export business ... do they supply HSE?? .. have they been ordered to assist ... are they on 24x7 shifts.. can kit be sent to Croke-Park and the University Campus Treatment x Holding centers / preMortuary centres..

    Masks

    Ventilators

Medtronic Galway are a big one.

    https://www.irishtimes.com/news/health/medics-raise-concerns-about-staffing-levels-as-hse-stocks-up-on-ventilators-1.4201544

40% of of all Ventilators world wide are produced here. However i think the problem is having the qualified staff to use them.

Someone was questioning age breakdown of icu cases in Italy.

Coronavirus: More young patients being admitted to hospital, Italian doctor warns

“Twelve per cent of those who have been treated in intensive care are aged between 19 and 50, according to official figures released last night.

The longer this goes on, we might wish we took a UK attitude towards it. ( let it burn through the population) I really hope the quarantine in Italy works. Otherwise It will be death by a thousand cuts

Maybe listen to the tweet? He had been in contact with someone who had tested positive.

I'm not sure about this as nobody has mentioned it, but Idris may have gotten tested as he had contact with a confirmed case.

After watching Piers Morgan this morning I'm wondering what are we going to do without a health service.

No report from Dr Holohan this evening?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 68 ✭✭Fics

Just popped into the local Tesco for a bag of salad there's a palpable tension out and about this evening, I drive for my commute and didn't leave work today so was unaware.

Feels like it could all kick off if someone stood to close or coughed. Not a nice feeling feel quite uneasy after it.

Idris Elba revealed on Monday that he has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).

"This morning I tested positive for Covid 19," he tweeted. "I feel ok, I have no symptoms so far but have been isolated since I found out about my possible exposure to the virus. Stay home people and be pragmatic. I will keep you updated on how I’m doing. No panic."

    https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/idris-elba-tests-positive-coronavirus-1284878

Interesting he says he has no symptoms. Basically adding more fuel to the fire that this is massively widespread, but because we can't all get tested, we don't see that spread as muych

I wonder is his only treatment isolation
