We can see that health professionals are a group of people who get this early (from infected sick people turning up in hospitals for help).

Staff levels drop due to illness.

Personal protective equipment is needed and there may not be enough supplies.

I reckon for health professionals it could be a mixed bag:
    - maybe they are infected and it's early days in an infection for them
    - being overworked would be another cause - exhaustion, dehydration, hunger

    What's first point mean?

This is where the public services card will come into its own. Once you have one no need for a lot of other stuff. Speed thinks up when they have proof of who you are. Most have one at this stage anyhow, 3M issued.

It's certainly worth looking at what the Germans are doing right, their toll is kept very low so far, lives being saved. What are the differences in treatment?
    Germany

Dead/Resolved Cases 17.92% same as Iran (for values of Iranian accuracy)

Strange thing about Germany figures is confirmed v Italy confirmed given the Italian outbreak seems to have originated in Germany.

Idris Elba revealed on Monday that he has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).

"This morning I tested positive for Covid 19," he tweeted. "I feel ok, I have no symptoms so far but have been isolated since I found out about my possible exposure to the virus. Stay home people and be pragmatic. I will keep you updated on how I’m doing. No panic."

Interesting he says he has no symptoms. Basically adding more fuel to the fire that this is massively widespread, but because we can't all get tested, we don't see that spread as muych

140,000 workers laid off due to coronavirus
"If you have the card you can go to mygov.ie and fill out the form and you will be responded to within days. If you don't have one, go to welfare.ie and download the form and send it back by freepost to PO BOX 12896," Minister Doherty said.

    Hello
This is the spartan home of MyGov, a new not-for-profit Irish organisation.

We're dedicated to making free web applications which improve the relationship between elected representatives and State organisations, and the residents of Ireland.

Between now and when this page says something more interesting, here are the two projects we have up and running already:

KildareStreet.com tracks debates and questions and members of the Irish parliament, and
FixMyStreet delivers your reports about things in your area which need fixing to the correct local authority, everywhere in Ireland, tells you what's going on in your neighbourhood, and lets you keep track of your issues in public.

Is it any wonder people are uncertain as to how to proceed? Both cannot be right in the general sense.

Yes because times are uncertain and people are making 'the best call they can' based on uncertain and fast changing conditions. MISTAKES will almost certainly be made, and those mistakes may well cost lives, but we have to see them for what they are 'mistakes' make by well intentioned people who had to make very difficult life and death decisions in very short timeframes.

We need to stop attributing malice or incompetence to these types of decisions if they are wrong, and just accept them for what they are.

There will be others as more deaths are announced. People will put their own and their families welfare first especially if they have to interact with the public without protection.

I have zero issues with anyone who has genuine reasons for taking time off, it's the wasters who use any excuse to dodge work, my colleague has several gold medals for it and a matching brass neck to boot. I have another colleague who comes in dutifully even though one of his children is in a high risk group, I equally have a problem with his cavalier attitude.

    Question regarding recoveries.

    1. If you test positive, but are self isolating and not too sick are you tested every so often until negative?

You can apply for Jobseekers online using your MyGov account, the forms are for people who haven't opened an account.
If you are lucky your employer can pay you the €203 directly and eliminate the need for applying in any format. Your employer can claim it back when normality resumes.
I tried applying and they look for me to call into intero centre to confirm my phone number 🀦*♀️

That's the best possible scenario. The more people that have it the better the numbers look.

They are not, they've just ramped it up from today in a lot more locations nationally.

Difference might be due to reporting. Iirc they weren't recording the death as coronavirus related if there was a comorbidity.

Remember the chit chat about the use of ibuprofen (various brand names like Nurofen etc) the French warned against its use, the HSE posted today

This evening in the guardian we read

Is it any wonder people are uncertain as to how to proceed? Both cannot be right in the general sense.

There's bound to be uncertainty early on in treatment guidelines for any new disease.

What seems to be happening with this particular story is that observations on small numbers of patients are raising questions that will, I hope, soon be settled, resulting in better informed advice from governments.

Probably the higher usage of drugs like ibuprofen in the west compared to China means that the answer on this specific medicine may not already be available in what we've learned from the epidemic in China, so we'll have to wait to find out.
