Another morning waking up with fear and anxiety ..... great ... jesus this will have a toll on mental health ...

We're all there; solidarity, brother. The endless tightness in my chest has me checking my breathing every 15 minutes, but it's (so far) just tension. We'll get through this if we keep ckear heads and stick together.

Seriously. Not everything has to be political. Ventilators going abroad would be a company selling them not the government.

Seriously, you don’t think that would be a political decision.

For me mornings are the worst ... evening time I watch tv/read and it's great for distraction ..

Morning, I'm the same, I have been waking up each morning thinking is this over yet! Still a long way to go. Stay strong everyone.

The Mrs (non boardsie) is due to be tested today. She's been unwell since Thursday and was in contact with her GP on Friday who wanted her tested. She then rang doctor on call later on Friday night who diagnosed her over the phone to have a chest infection and Laryngitis; give a prescription and told to self isolate.

Flu like symptoms continue on all weekend and now the doctors have changed their tune again.. so hopefully get tested today after we gave our eircode and contact details. Say the neighbours will be in for some shock if an ambulance pulls up outside.

It's particularly hard to isolate with 3 young kids.. who have all been sick in recent weeks too. At this stage it would be just good to know if the result will come back positive or not. No doubt today's test and the results will be delayed.

I'm off work today but due back in on Wednesday.. if no results are back then I won't be able to go in anyways.. normality is now long forgotten..

Let us know how this plays out for you. Hoping for a good outcome

Testing can now be ordered electronically by GPs - what if you don't have one?

Lockdown is not possible in ireland...
Garda has no authority neither militars here
    Only scumbags could manage it

We eat chickens that **** on each other.

Yes but the problem becomes the cross contamination from one species to another.

Tell them to piss off until this crisis is over. Good luck to them getting an eviction enforced. We've been through this before, remember.

Yeah, property ownership, mortgage repayments, contracts, laws can all piss off.

Conveney on morning ireland, never denied the post circulating last night he went as far as saying state services and gps cant do this alone when i read that i take it as if their will be a lockdown and security upped outside certain buildings. They dont want too announce too much too quickly as this would cause imformation overload with the public, not my words his words.

    Leave them there.

most of them would be short term hols , utter gimps flew out there knowing what was up.
leave them there , the rest of us are worse off having them back.

I literally know the guy who rares my chickens and those feathery fúckers have an enviable life.

We usually have chicken once a month, although it's looking like most of my pre-made meals for the next couple of months have meat in them because I find cooked veg doesn't keep as well when frozen.

Chickens are animals which have been bred for agriculture and although birds and livestock can sometimes pick up diseases as well, we've been lucky to keep that under control. I do agree that after this, we really should look at eating animals as a serious issue that we need to find ways around.

I actually feel very sorry for vegans right now unless they grow their own food. There's a high risk of transmission of this on foodstuffs at the supermarket although most of my vegan friends just eat frozen deep fried crap anyway and never any veg.

I’m in a a pretty lucky position but I live alone and I’m really struggling despite doing my best.

Once I’m up and working from home I’m ok but I’ve just started in the job and can’t help feeling worried they may terminate my contract.

    Night time is the worst.
    Some suggestions?

Yes. They actually fcuking can pal.

Laws that can be enforced by the Gardai should be enforced .

A young family with no income should not be forced to worry about mortgage/rent repayments on top of everything else. To put it simple. Fcuk Off

Ireland manufactures half of the worlds Ventilators according to an article in the Irish Times. Looking at Germanys example of stopping trucks with facemasks being exported to Switzerland - perhaps we should now follow their lead ...

If they close the airports and ports as I "heard". How would they leave?

It's not false, government would need legislation to lockdown, something which they don't current have.

If a pub opened today there's nothing the Gardai could even do.

Factories and the like, will they be shut?

Which law? This is just your claim versus the other poster's claim, both of which could be wrong.

Not so far. The only new news today is the ramping up of testing and an expected far higher number of cases.

the government and the banks pretty much stated this , nobody will be forced out over non payments during the crisis.

even the revenue , the most heartless bastard of them all , is saying they'll work with businesses who cant make returns.

Of course you'll eventually have to pay but It's good to see , to a large degree we are all in this together.

Their is law dating back a long time that enforces the gardai to make sure people stay in lockdown or self isolation, drew harris, garda commisioner has just gone and said this a week and a half ago so yes the OP is false.

I know it's a proper first-world struggle: I'm a mature student and most parts of our course are online, which is nice. Now everything is moved online, which is even nicer.
What's tough is that our deadlines stay the same, but now I have a toddler and a school kid at home and I have several assignments to write. So from now up until after Easter I'm knee-deep in work with my bored brigade at home.
I asked my husband to work from home but his office is super-vague about it, but I need him to split childcare so we both can juggle our work somehow. It's really, really tough.
