Very pissed off from last night. In fairness they hung in, Oblak was immense, and we weren't clinical when we needed to be but if it was anyone other than Oblak it would have been 3 or 4.

I really wanted us to beat Atleti since their antics in the first leg. I didn't care about winning the CL, just as long as we knocked them out.

What can you do RE Adrian? It's not like you can have two world class goalkeepers. Anyway **** it, we've won two cups this season with a league title on the way.

We don't need a second world class keeper just someone who doesn't make mistakes under no pressure, All season he makes horrific mistake , Brighton Southampton , Chelsea he got caught out other he got away with ,

Look when had Burnley Pope and Heaton neither world class but don't make shockers ,Romero at United never makes shockers , We need a steady second keeper not a world class one ,

So Liverpool are now limping to the title with a 25 point gap. Unreal must have been written by a Manc.

Often found them to be pro Man U when discussing Liverpool. Dont read it too often now.

Romero is an unusual case in terms of second choice keepers.

Heaton/Pope doesn't really compare. Heston was number one and Pope emerged through their reserve/youth set up after several loans. It would be equivalent to Grabara or Kelleher taking a huge step up for us, rather than us buying somebody in.

I'm frustrated with Adrian but I don't think there's an easy solution. For one, Mignolet left late in the window, it wasn't like we had two months to replace him. You also have to factor in that you're essentially asking someone to only play cup games or in the case of an injury - for most international standard keepers (Romero being the exception as far as I can see), you're asking them to write off a huge part of their career.

I think Adrian did fine during his spell in the team early in the season but I am not comfortable with him playing frequently now in big games. But if he goes in the summer (I don't expect it to happen) I don't know who the replacement would be.

Look at the other sides in the PL -

City's number 2 was relegated from the number 1 spot after a poor season, Leicester number two only plays the odd cup tie, Spurs have a young player who may emerge to replace their number one eventually but is currently still developing, Chelsea have a similar one to us - veteran free option.

Other than Romero, is anyone reliable when it comes to the number 2?

Im not too annoyed about the CL as we played superb.

But the Virus could cost us the title.
The league will be suspended soon.

Would not put it past the PL too annual the season. As next few months no football will be played.

I cant see the season being annulled

Say this is the last weekend ,

Imagine United lose or draw this weekend and don't get a champions league spot ,

What about Sheffield United win there in hand and they'd be 5th and be champions league , cant stop it when they haven't played as many games as the others ?

Leeds don't get to come up after 20 years through no fault of there own ,

To many teams would be effected financially

    Similar comments from Simeone today:
“What I have to say, and will be saying at the next UEFA coaches' meeting, is what I think is unfair,” said the Atletico boss.

“Today was unjust because we had 30 minutes of extra time to score three away goals. Liverpool never had that. We had 30 more minutes to score an away goal and Liverpool didn't. That's not fair.

“The rule favoured us today but it might go against us in the future. Liverpool had 30 minutes fewer to score an away goal. That's wrong.”

Still a bit disappointed today, but there is a league to be won. It says a lot about the massive sea change at this club that a lot of us expected to get close to getting a CL to go with the league title.

Don't let the WUMs grind you down.

Adrian has been ropey all season but getting away with it ,
I'll give you he can make great saves but he always has an unforced error in him ,

I don't mind a keeper who isn't world class but unforced errors isn't much to ask for ,

never understood the logic of away goals counting in extra time. One side get 120 mins to score away goals whilst the other only has 90, its always been a contentious one in my opinion. Not just after last night of course :P

Yeah, but the flip side is that the other team gets the extra 30 mins in fornt of their home fans.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

While I agree Adrian has to take some of the responsibility our defence has to take there fair share. It's not like they shot straight from that terrible kick they had the ball and passing it for a good 10 + seconds and we did not get near them. Same for second, have not seen the other as was going to bed

My over-riding feeling coming after the tie is that we need to strenghten the squad over the summer. Robbo has looked jaded the last few games. We need a solid alternative at left-back. Adrian despite how good he has been at the start of the season needs upgrading. The number 2 position is a hard one to get right but we need to find the answer. We need a CF to challenge Firmino. Let's not forget the first leg and Origi's contribution off the bench. Playing him as a left winger is not the answer, he has stagnated an imo needs to be moved on. Will Klopp ever have enough faith in Minamino? I just don't see it. What we have has been good enough to walk the league but Europe is a different story. One mistake as shown last night and you are out. We were absolutely the better team but that doesn't matter in European knock-out football

    I'm over it.

The goading from others has helped.

Their expectations of us have us in a situation where they will believe this season is a failure.

We're not even a dynasty yet and we're expected to win fúcking everything. And when we don't, it's a catastrophe.

    What a place to be.

Also, Simeone didn't need to say that about the away goals rule.

Kudos for talking sense when he could have bitten back.

It's always been a dumb rule in extra time.

We've benefited before, but it needs to be scrapped.

I' m not so sure he was being sincere ,
He did mentioned how they had " 30 extra minutes to score 3 goals at Anfeild " a few times i think it was poking fun

Must be the other things going on in the world, but I honestly don't even care at the moment. I said I was gutted last night, think it was more just shock but I didn't give it much thought after. Strange feeling

At the end of the day its just a group of millionaires kicking a ball of air around, don't worry about it. As much as I like football it shouldn't ruin or make your week.

Whatever about Adrian or any sub keeper not being up to it I'd be more worried about Allison's injury record, he's nearly as bad as sturridge at this stage

I'm not too fussed about last night now, big chance that competition won't even finish, what will they do with Italian teams, nobody will want to play them anyway, and who would give a ****e about a cl final being played in an empty stadium, fine thing we are done with it

on that, i always felt it balances out as much as is reasonably possible. 30 min extra for an away goal vs 30 min extra of home advantage.

What are the chances of us actually lifting the cup at home to Palace if we beat Everton and Palace of course, I can see that being done rather then waiting till our last home game

Haven't watched it back and probably won't but what was Adrian trying to do with that clearance? Was he trying to pass it to someone or was it just a hoof downfield that he completely messed up? Even the shot after was very saveable only he slipped on his hole to compound the original error.

Even the two goals after that I think Allison likely saves. I presume Adrian's head just went after the first.

Lonergan is decent, level headed at least. I dunno why or how Adrian let in 3 tame passes, hardly even a shot, and he could not dive, or even move in anyway.
Poor stage fright or what? So weird.

He comes sprinting out of his goal to just get anything on it as if he's under pressure and challenging an Atletico player for the ball....but there's no one within 10 yards of him. If he wasn't running out of his goal he could've just let the ball come to him, taken a touch and still had plenty of time to kick it out to Milner wide open on his left, the pass he had been playing all night.

His posiitioning for 2 of the goals was glaringly poor, not shuffling across far enough and getting beaten at your near post so easily was not even in the Migs / Karius playbook. Having said that, we didn't take our chances to finish it in normal time so you cannot blame him alone.

He did this little hop when the shot was taken which meant he was wrong footed and couldn't get over quick enough.

I blame him for the goal but not the loss, because we should have had 3 or 4 goals in the 90 mins.

I can't blame the finishing, we scored 2 goals against the best defensive unit in the world. Atletico were almost entirely toothless in attack over both legs too, we just needed to see the game out with no huge mistakes.
