In my personal experience, I'd sooner trust a vet than a doctor, at least vets look a their patients and visit them

Ah man, how did.we get here? This is absolutely embarassing
Somebody saying that a vet who treats many mammals.(and others) would be be better suited to treating humans than human vets aka doctors
    .

It definitely is embarrassing for the vast majority of the doctors I've had to deal with.

It has been downplayed here by medical representatives with a clear mantra not to scare people. Lobby groups have been extensive air time to protect their own interests.

Like Italy, ridiculous comparisons with the flu have been "bandied about" to downplay this pandemic with no known viral treatment.

They were running the same testing regime, i.e. not testing at all, unless you were displaying respiratory issues and a fever.

Many of those not meeting testing criteria where asked to "voluntarily" isolate. Many didn't for economic reasons or the everyday inconvenience.

It spread to communities. The ability to carry out contact traceability became academic.

We have had children who have returned from Northern Italy in recent weeks who were told by the HSE to return to school, at the same time the NHS (including NI) was telling those who returned from similar trips to self isolate. Infact as recent as last week, the HSE and D/Education had issued advice prohibiting any immediate planned skiing trips by schools.

Many returning may never show symptoms and community spread is/was inevitable.

Then we had a Doctor in the West, who had returned from Italy and was carrying out his everyday doctoring duties in the community, despite showing symptoms. Now himself and his family are among the positive numbers. Contact tracing would have been a nightmare.

There are a large number of front line health workers who have had to "voluntarily" isolate because they have been potentially exposed to the virus. One of the latest to be diagnosed down in Bon Secours was sitting in ICU for a period of time before being tested for coronavirus. They have advised staff who have had contact with the patient and who are displaying "symptoms" of coronavirus to self isolate.

The hospitals in Northern Italy who are streets ahead of ours are fire fighting, so much so that surgeons are forced to turn to the media to tell how bad it is in order to get the public's attention.

Our hospitals are not equipped to deal with the increased numbers which are now inevitable, due to the do nothing approach in testing, preventing visitors to or from badly effected regions, putting in preventive spread measures (at mass gatherings) and general playing down by those advising due to economic influences.

    There is ample evidence.
It's fine. We are replacing doctors with vets. Far easier.

You should. Otherwise everything you say are lies.

You'll find, that in every post I've made on this topic if I've asserted something, I've cited sources from robust bodies of evidence. So please clearly detail to me where I've been telling lies?

Also, you've not answered my question or even constructed a single sentence of sense yet.

Luckily, you only deal with vets (unless.you were hyperbolic).

Here's an idea, get all the medical staff in the country to bail out to London to participate in this trial. Then get the vets in to run the hospitals. Sure it'll be grand.

I hate to be this guy, but I'm really hoping you'd answer my question in relation to PCR 'not working'. Link below.

So how should we be testing people to confirm a diagnosis?

If society breaks down by even a fraction of the amount the Boards posters have on this thread, then we’re all doomed

How did the health officials come up with the 1.9 million number of possible infections in Ireland in the coming weeks. That’s nearly half our population. Is that not a bit overdone as this hasn’t been the case in any other country has it that nearly half the population got infected?

It's ok because it's balanced out by the boards posters who reckon this will blow over and be a distant memory in a couple of weeks.

I didnt think health officials had confirmed those figures? Seems too high tbh.
I heard rumours (I work in CS) that they were estimating 1/5th of the population (max) might get coronavirus at some stage this year, at least that's what they are planning for in my government department.

Probably Saturday at the latest. The "intelligent poster" who made the claim has gone very quiet the last couple of hours. I've no idea what their agenda was. But for somebody.to.compromise patient safety like that. I couldn't stand for it.

Comprising patient safety. For god's sake, hysterical ott dramatics.

It’ll be middle of the road I’m sure. People will die because of the second order effects of the virus on society. We saw already some harrowing cases in China. In Italy meanwhile... A prisoner has died after a riot in his prison, one of three prisons that had riots once the decree was announced and they were told there would be no more visits for the duration. https://www.theguardian.com/world/live/2020/mar/08/coronavirus-live-updates-third-death-in-australia-as-cases-reach-more-than-70?page=with%3Ablock-5e655c5c8f087df56e4c4af3

I actually had to rewind that i hadn't imagined this post. Somebody would actually be treated by a vet than a doctor. Are you having a breakdown? Do you want to die?

I don't know if its accurate but on TV their "consultations" often begin with a fist up the arse!

So yesterday I popped into Aldi for just a couple of things. I always shop on a Sunday because it's nice and quiet. I couldn't believe how busy it was yesterday! Crazy busy. I assumed it was just how it is on Saturdays. But today I went to do my weekly shop as usual and it was chock a block! Nobody seemed panicked. Two separate people coughed as they walked by me without covering their mouths :( .

Most people had the big trolleys and were filling them. There was definitely less fruit and veg than usual. Now Sundays are generally the worst for that stuff but it was worse than usual but not alarmingly so. Meat section was full. But there was a huge shortage of toilet roll. What's that about?? Ours isnt made in China is it? Are people reading about Australia and just totally panicking or what?!?!

Tesco wasn't as bad, just low on cleaning stuff really. Wouldn't like to face those crowds again anytime soon.

    Fake news.

    Pushed by the media

Sure 8 billion people COULD get the virus

    Doesn't mean they will.
