The on-pitch ref shouldn't have a say once it goes to VAR, what can he see that the guy in the booth with all his camera angles can't? If the VAR official watches the replay and sees a blatant push it shouldn't matter if the on-pitch ref says he doesn't think it was a foul.

Adrian is a disaster waiting to happen. I dread him facing Atletico.

I'm really worried about your liver, this a theme of your posts recently, I want you to see us make it over the line, you deserve it as much as any of us. Maybe ease off a bit then we'll all head into an alcohol induced coma together once we win it? :D

he should take the approach that Gary Neville has & only pop open a bottle when Liverpool lose, you'd not need to worry about his liver at all then, that's nearly complete sobriety.

The authority of the ref... blah de blah.....
I think the on field refs love VAR, the focus has been off them this season with stuff like today when it goes to VAR (who have their hands tied with “clear and obvious”. Ref should have easily seen the fouls on Gomez/Wood in the first place.

He has a rick in him for sure but he's 11 premier league games in for the reds and 11 wins so maybe just get behind him yeah? It's not like we have choice between him and big Al. I really *really* can't fathom negativity from Liverpool fans given what we are seeing this season. Last few games excepted but we were always going to have a bump. Live with it.

Tough MOTD tonight, we were the only team of the 14 playing to score more than 1 today and everyone knows how sh1te we are :D:D;)

I don’t think it matters if we, in this forum, are behind him or not. I’ve some concerns about him in Weds game, as we may not be able to afford a screw up from him. Huge game, experienced opponent, we need our A game.
He is what he is, a backup keeper. Hope we don’t need him to be called upon too much.

I've also got concerns that Atleti will get the goal(s) they need to put it beyond us.

These are intensified with Adrian on goal.

Of course not but he's playing so whats he point in worrying? I can't be arsed reading negativity and also can't understand it either given this season, we've had plenty of opportunity for it before 18-19 but not since. There may be a time for it if we somehow fecked this up but it isn't now. Basically I'm an optimist, focus on the positive, ignore the negative until it's slapping you in the mush.

If we go out so be it, it won't be down to him though, it'll be cos the team have been largely off it for a few games now and the forwards aren't firing at the worst possible time. League will do but I wanted both and I think we'll go through.

I don't get why anyone would want to win it when we're not playing or win it at Goodison or the Etihad.

Winning it, when needing 3 points, at Anfield is what I'd prefer. I'd much rather it was won in front of 50k home fans.

Apologies if that's not what some here were saying but it came across that way.

If it were up to me, we'd win it against Chelsea because I'll be at the match. But that would also involve a bit of a collapse so I'm just happy to have the trophy presentation then.

The point is, he’s not of the standard to be a starter, so is a weak link that is more likely to be exposed. That’s the worry about him.
If he makes a huge mistake, it could be the reason we go out.
Negativity or positivity in here won’t matter on Wed. The lads will need to fired up and the fans at the game should be in full voice.

They were better strikers but Salah is a right winger which makes his numbers that much more impressive.

I think its a bit convenient to call Salah a winger. Hes not a winger in the sense of what a winger used to be. Mcmanaman, Giggs etc. Hes the right of a front 3.

I understand that but what will any of us worrying about it achieve? He's playing, end of. Get behind him, hope for and expect the best. At the end of the day if we go out I think the inability of the best 11 including Alisson to keep a clean sheet and not score over there will be more of an issue.

For no reason at all other than I was looking at the scoring stats for Mane on the back of the Salah/Torres/Suarez talk, he has 59 in 118 league games and Firmino has 35 in his last 100 games by my count.

BTW, VVD has a pitiful 8 league goals from his 81 games. With the others putting in the numbers they are thats just not good enough and he needs shipping out. :)

And what will that optimism achieve? It won't make anymore difference to the outcome than worrying.

Not playing well for the last number of games is a worry in the context of now having a huge game against Atletico, and missing a huge player like Allison.

The positives (which can't be forgotten either) is that it's at home (Anfield can be special on such European nights), we have plenty of quality, and Atletico themselves aren't in great form; 1 win in their last 4 La Liga games and have fallen out of the top4 places in the league.

Looking forward to the game and hoping we can do it

I keep watching that goal-line clearance from all angles. It's as good as any peach of a goal we've scored. A kick worth 2 points.

Yeah I'd agree about Fabinho lately. In fact, watching him since his return from injury, he hasn't looked himself at all since he came back. He was playing wonderful football before the injury but hasn't been at the races since.
He also took a long time to hit his best when we signed him, I think he's just that type of player who takes time to get up to speed.
I still think Klopp will start him midweek personally but you're right about him not playing well recently.

Maybe he's not as good as everyone was making him out to be.

Do not care how or when it's won tbh

Adrian is fine in goals. If it was Karius or Mignolet then fine, moan away. Adrian has shown himself to be a superb number 2.

Every keeper has a howler in them.

Agreed. I don’t care where. If I had the choice then I’d rather it’s not at Goodison. I’ve been to Liverpool too many times and have met too many Everton fans who are overwhelmingly sound people to win it there. It will hurt a good few of them.

I’d rather win it at Anfield in front of home fans so 50,000+ of them can celebrate properly. And it would be nice to win it on the pitch. Before the end of March would be cool as well.

I think City will drop points before we play Everton which makes it more interesting.

If, as seems likely, there will soon be a ban on fans attending sports events in the UK it may be irrelevant where the PL title is won.

Yep, there's a good chance when it's won it'll be behind closed doors. Hopefully come the last game v Chelsea fans are in the stadium. If not, so be it. Once we are champions!

Adrian is fine for most games. If he played every league game this season from here on in I'd be ok with that.

However, I'm definitely nervous about Allison missing v Athletico. A mistake in a game that big could be curtains.
