    Big interview coming up.

    Need to look the part.

The degree to which it matters I don't know but, I'm not going with the contemporary "belt" look, hell no.

    Suspenders, old school - like a boss;

    ZSxAigM.jpg?1

Also no tie, top button open look.

Honestly I wanted to go for an all black look, for some reason that looks particularly boss to me, but then I may also appear as if I'm going to a funeral.

    You get the general idea.

I'm also broad shouldered, not slender.

Any shops that are particularly good for that type of appearance or just a modern looking suit shop in Dublin?
Also, I'm not exactly ballin' outta control so, although I'm not about to buy at the thrift store, it shouldn't cost an arm and a leg either.

    Recommendations?

Would I be looking at Arnotts type of thing?
Or any specific mens suit dedicated outlets?

I'm a high street shopping blank slate pretty much.

PS - include ball park prices for slacks, shirt and jacket with store suggestions plz.

    I always liked Diffney’s.

You're looking at 700+ for something that looks right.
    Anything less will look cheap.

And bring a mate (female) to tell you how it looks from behind.

I got a nice black suit in Topman a couple of years ago - reduced from €160 to €80. Works well with or without a tie. Topman wouldn't ordinarily be my first port of call for formal wear, but it's a really good fit. I'm very slim though. No idea if they'd have anything for someone with broader shoulders.

I buy all my business suits in M&S, their mid range and top range are very good quality and great value, and you buy the jacket and trousers separately so you can mix and match the sizes. Great shirts too.

Absolute nonsense. To 99% of eyes, a decent <€200 suit looks perfectly fine as long as it's the right fit.

OP doesn't want to look fine. You need the extra 500 to move from "fine if it's the right fit" to looking "the part"

A proper suit in a neutral colour will last years.
A €200 effort will look crap in 12months.

Just to be clear, we're talking about Marks and Spencer here?

I've never spent much time there but, I thought they sold food products exclusively.

I'll get a pair of shoes in any shoe store I guess but, so long as I nail down the slacks, shirt and possibly jacket in a solid fit, cut and color, I'm sure the shoes can follow.

M&S will kit you out with suits, shirts, belts, shoes, ties, braces, cufflinks, socks and even some new jocks if you need em.

Good range, price options and quality.

Yeah, interview, with a team of highly skilled professionals and researchers that are going to be scrutinizing me on everything from research experience, interests, ethics, all the way through to emotional intelligence.

But I'm 'bout to let them know who's in charge,

Yeah, position is gonna by national quality assurance officer for carnal practices within Ireland as a whole, employed indirectly via the office of MEP Francis Fitzgerald.
It's part of her experimental approach toward ensuring national standards of debauchery being engaged in by cheating bastards do not breach acceptable societal standards of ethics.

Nah maybe if I wear a nice suit they'll oust you and give me your soon-to-be former job flipping beef patties on the grille.

Nothing worse or more obvious than a cheap suit or shoes on a man. We had a person wore a purple polyester suit in work, just awful. Like out of the Ilac centre.

Louis Copeland if you need bespoke.

For those who can wear ready made, M&S is a good option.

Actually just on the topic of shoes - budget but still fashionable looking, Cordiners is the go to.... or where?

M and S has gotten favourable ratings from other posts, will check.

    And Arnotts bargain basement....

Find a decent tailor, who would be willing to alter individual items. Ask what colors, material, etc he'd recommend... As others have said, mix/match from the rails. Then bring them in to your friendly tailor for a separate fitting.

The tailor will likely be able to find material easily enough if needed, and you'll save a good 4-5 hundred euro by tailoring outside of the original shop. It won't be quite as natural looking but it should look pretty good all the same. It'll still cost a bit because good material is expensive, and tends to be harder to work with for the tailor...

Don't go too cheap on the shoes though. Check out some Portuguese brands since the quality is often as good as the Italian, but cheaper. People tend to check the shoes on a suit first.. especially women. So.. buy quality leather.. and I'd recommend trying to go old-school with the wooden heels. Hard to find in stores, so you might have to shop online.

Are you applying to manage the Southside brothel with the 2 "Chineseses" and the girl you went to school with?

The cheap purple polyester suit might work better with a fedora.
