30k mile Panda with NCT til January 2021, €1200

Could be a bit cheaper, but a decent little all the car all the same. I do enjoy a low miler

08 4 wheel drive Captiva diesel, NCT til October, €1950

Claims full history, new tyres, service and belt yada yada...nice to know if there's a shred of truth to any of it.

What do we reckon about these? This looks like a clean enough example. €710 tax too, they're €1200 on co2

What's it like, kilometres, service history is a must or proof of correct oil changes and on time if not before,

Another poster on here fell in love with one and it was an absolute money pit.... They kept pouring more and more cash into it.

Nice car, comfy but the 1.6 is just a ticking time bomb if not cared for.

It's same engine in Volvo, focus, Peugeot etc.... Of that era

Had one of these last year and sold it on for 1k last month. Have to say it never let me down over the 2 years I had it.

He will have to come down a good bit in price I imagine.. tax was a downfall on it and it was a bit of a guzzler but it's a big yoke so that can be expected. With the seats folded down the size of the car is huge.

Might be looking to replace a diesel Sportage tow wagon in the next few months, probably with a Freelander 2 or something along those lines but I might keep these in mind. Most seem to be in bits though

31 year old Fiesta on classic tax with no less than 18 months test! €1200

Would I pay that much for it? Probably not, but wait for it come down by a few hundred quid and it'd make a great second car/runaround!

An r56 with a short test is a recipe for disaster unfortunately.

You'd need to give a lot more details than that. Could be great, could be awful.

    Very true

The biggest issue with them is 99% of them are in absolute tatters by the time owners get rid, they tend to attract the type that are not particularly mindful of maintenance in the slightest..

    Claim of 1 lady owner.
    Also worth a call.

    Asking €1,100

That's crazy money for a 19 year old car, tax or no tax.

    I'll bite.

    Lets break it down.

    Asking price €1,100
    Less Valid Tax €300 (approx)
    Real purchase cost €800

Lets assume you secure €50 off the asking.
Real purchase price is now €750

Factor in the fact that its a (claimed) one owner car, with acceptable miles, decent engine, lowish annual tax, reliable, respectable looking, will ferry 4 adults or an average family around in acceptable comfort.

Issues of insurance aside, is a real purchase price of €750 really crazy for that car?
If it was a total shed I would agree with you, but all things considered and assuming the car is legit I think its a decent buy.
Certainly don't agree that its crazy money.

I agree €750 isn't crazy money when you look at what you are actually getting but I think they'll still struggle to sell it due newer cars being sold at a similar price and also the issue of insuring a car over 15 years.

750 is still too much. The Irish love affair with the Avensis is long gone especially with that petrol engine, they can be troublesome enough as the miles rise. If it was a diesel with a hitch maybe some aul Zeb would pick her up, slap her on the FBD and draw sheep to the mart.

A grand is way too much for one of those, they're like driving a hairdryer.

This one is more realistically priced.
