Had a look at the whoscored ratings as I generally look to them for an objective view.

It's interesting - TAA gets a very low mark, and VVD is slightly lower than Lovern. Trent's defending has been very poor lately. As great as VVD is, he does have the odd game where's his focus is not there. I think Lovern being Lovern (and not match sharp) didn't help things but I think it's a mix of a few factors:
    • The team being mentally tired from the intensity of the season so far
    • Missing Hendo and Milner's leadership in the middle
    • Mane coming back from injury and not looking 100%
    • Fabinho not looking like the player he was pre injury
    • Teams figuring out how Liverpool play and adopting to it

Champions League is main priority but I really want the FA Cup as well. We haven't won it in ages and 2006 and 2001 were memorable.

There was a time last year after the Barca loss, and City beating Leicester, it looked like the season would end on a damp note with nothing to show for it. This group of players didn't let that happen, and I don't think they will this season either.

TAA was fine up until the Deeny tackle. He faded badly after that.

I think that's the main one, and also why the likes of West Ham and AM have run us close or beaten us lately.

Defend deep, be ready for full back crosses and counter. Most teams still couldn't cope, but cut-down our goals and finally AM and Watford profited.

It's a great defeat, takes the pressure off now. Win the league and then we can play some kids in remaining games, doesn't matter then if we lose another 8 as long as league is done.
Had we remained undefeated we'd have been stressed until the last day trying to remained undefeated. Win the league and then get Jones and Elliot , Minamino and Williams in the team, CL is the goal now for the first team.

I'm glad the monkey is off our back too but I don't agree with the rest of this. We are always at our poorest when the team loses rhythm. We saw it last season after we had ten days off cos we went out the cup, we had our poor league run straight after. Same again with the three week break to the CL final and now this season we've not been at the races since the winter break.

The way we play needs constant games, we need to put the league to bed ASAP but I wouldn't be picking weakened teams after or we'll have no chance of winning the CL. If we even get past Atlético that is!

Gomez being missing was a massive factor yesterday too. Different team without him and Henderson. Matip needs to get back in ahead of Lovren going forward if Joe is out.

Focus on Chelsea next week. Play a strong team. Then back to the league with Bournemouth. Klopp has never lost two games on the trot (or is that just two league games?)

It could be a blessing in disguise to lose the undefeated streak, just focus on winning the required four games starting with Bournemouth and then all focus should pivot to the cup competitions, FA Cup and CL.

If we were going to lose a game this season to a team in the bottom 3 I would have preferred it to be with Norwich.

However the only record I care about this season is Liverpool winning their 19th league title.

This result was coming all season and fair play to Watford they were clearly the better team and 3-0 flattered Liverpool as it could have been a 5/6 nil defeat.

Chelsea in the Cup is now interesting.

Do we go stronger than previous rounds to avoid another defeat & try get into form or rest ahead of Bourneouth & Atletico 4 days after.

Use it for fringe players + 3 or 4 youths.

Minamino, Milner, Matip, Keïta/Ox, Lallana, Origi, Adrián and probably Lovren along with Neco Williams, Jones, Elliott

Fabinho, Trent and the front 3 on the bench. Rest Robertson and Virgil completely

I'd say it's low on the list of priorities and the approach won't change to previous games, unless he feels the team needs minutes to try regain form.

I would consider selling Salah if a 130m+ bid came in.

He is still a good player but showing signs of decline. Pace doesnt seem there. Very poor away from home. Loses too many easy balls as well.

If Timo comes in during the summer, that'd be a nice but of business

You can see what they discuss perfectly reflected in this thread.

If Salah goes it will be extremely difficult to replace his output so be careful what you wish for because losing him make the club weaker.

If he does leave we'll be see Manes numbers drop because he'll be the one getting double marked and the space Salah created for him won't be there anymore.

I really don't get the selling Salah thing, he causes so many problems for opposition teams with how he plays regardless of whether he is banging them in or not...

I see there are lads on Instagram sending Lovren death threats over yesterday also, that stuff is ridiculous...

    This.

Klopp & Co don't do kneejerk reactions, it's very much thought out and planned beforehand. The plan is the plan going forward, and I don't think it will change after yesterday.
Not overly worried about being 'found out'. Teams have been parking the bus against us for 18 months now, and we've always been able to work it out. As I said last night, the loss is more down to the oft break of form we tend to get this time of year. I can't explain what it is, maybe something in the training plan we do to get ready for. The second half of the. Season, but I trust we'll gear up again and put another run together.

All down to the Atleti game now.

Winning the league is what's important this year.

Next up would be winning the CL but we all know how difficult doing back to backs are in that competition. Go as far as possible and hope that your good enough again

Next is FA Cup. Would be nice to win but not at the expense of either the other competitions.

more so a long term thinking to get some money in while he has not fallen off a cliff yet.

I not seeing that pace much lately at all. You can see Salah getting frustated as he cant outrun defenders as much anymore. Still a good player.

But maybe selling for big money could fund a move for Sancho as well as Werner.

The front 3 are all late 20's. No probably the ideal time to cash in on one after winning the CL & Pl as well.

Stats wise Salah is doing very well but his general his performances have not been great. That is why Carragher's piece was poor just pointed to his stats which are great but Salah doesn't do the defensive work of Firmino or Mane .

He's not playing the same roll as last year either. Look at his starting position in the vast majority of games now. TAA is occuping a lot of Salahs positions from last season.

He's also been tasked with receiving the ball with his back to goal a lot more and then releasing back to TAA. Last season Salah was looking for the run in behind in the majority of situations but not anymore.

Same on the other side. Mane got a lot more ball like this last year with Robbo bombing on. Now this season Mane is running behind and Robbo isn't going past him as often.

Salah's basic numbers are covering up a number of fractures in his game -

    can't receive a ball cleanly
holds on to ball too long so is...
    ...closed down too easily
makes increasingly poor decisions when he has a moment to do something
    pace starting to drop off

His peak market value has already passed but he could still fetch north of 100m. He'll not get any better than his current level and he won't be allowed to drop off a cliff while still on the clubs books. So I could see a "shock" transfer but that said suspect they wait until 2021 even if they bring in Werner (it's a bit odd seeing that tweet by Leipzig, it's almost like they know he is off to Liverpool).

    Lovren.

Nobody covered themselves in glory, but he just spreads panic wherever he goes.

After a couple of minutes he ducked madly under a routine long ball from Watford, and I knew it was going to be a tough afternoon.

It takes a lot to make Virg look jittery.

When he gets a run of games he can really be quite decent bit my God, coming in from the cold is absolutely unforgivable.

    No chance.

    I hope anyway.

League is done. No need to rest more than half the first team.

Chelsea last chance of a trophy and the Bridge is always a tough place to come through.

Arsenal fans and official account are losing the run of themselves. Reply going full on small time club.

People going on about it being great that Liverpool didn't get the unbeaten record because of being unbearable and never hearing the end of it. The irony of them going on about it for 16 years and ramping it up this weekend being lost completely .

    It is quite bizarre.

They just got knocked out of the Europa League last 32 stage.

There best achievement this season was when Pepe got past VVD lol

That Chelsea team with out Kante can be beaten and should be beaten. We may get a nice home draw in the next round. I wouldn't fancy us against athletico on current form and Hendo won't be back for that game

    Adrian
    Williams---Matip--VVD---Robbo
    Fabby
    Ox-Cham---Jones
    ---Minamino---Origi----Mane

Alisson, Lovren, TAA, Salah, Firmino, Elliott plus whoever is fitist from Milner/Keita/Shaqiri

That game killed the father of someone my dad knew in business. He keeled over with heart failure after the full time whistle. Admittedly it could have been coincidence but that's not as good a story.

I can understand Arsenal fans being RELIEVED that they'll be keeping their unbeaten/Invincible status.

but CELEBRATING it like a lot of them are, baffling.

keep that stuff to yourself, it's embarrassing.

we're 40 points clear, you've just been knocked out of the Europa League, Notts Forest are taking the p1ss out you & your record in Europe.

as for United fans, even more baffling tbh, at least Arsenal had relevance yesterday & their record on the line, 38 points clear.

as disappointing as it was to lose a league game for the first time in 422 days yesterday I can only imagine what it's been like for those clearly waiting 422 days for us to lose a league game to be finally able to come out of the woodwork.

if I ever get to the stage where I'm celebrating the losses of other teams more than my own team then I'll know it's time to pack it in as a supporter, because that's just unhealthy.

even worse if it's talking as long as 422 days for that to happen.
