I think his point was the Vikings went around stealing all the attractive women from Ireland while pillaging the place and thinning out our attractiveness gene pool. (FTR though I think Irish women are very good looking and easy-going, relatively speaking)

They obviously hadn't much of an interest in humour though, they left all the smart arses here to make jokes about it, and they developed into the most boring shower of hoors on the continent themselves.

I think the teeth thing was probably true in the past, but in my experience most Irish gay men have good teeth lol (disclaimer I am one and I have been told I have lovely teeth).
I think guys in UK and Ireland are on a par looks wise, but hard to compete with Sweden and those other bloody scandi countries the handsome gits.

Hmmm. I find the Scandinavian attractive men thing to be way overblown. They have kind of bland immobile faces, objectively they should be aesthetically pleasing, but there is an absence of dynamism and imperfection Also they often appear to me, in media images and in person, to be somewhat effete. I like rugged faces. For the same reason overly coiffed Mediterranean guys do not attract me, too predictable and samey. Just as a wild generalisation of course. I like Eastern European men, if I was to look outside Irish men, who I like for their divilment, lovely eyes and charm. The Irish men are often very handsome.

It's hard for me to gauge as I'm so good looking myself, but having lived in various countries i certainly don't think we're much worse, male or female, than most countries. We do have an awful lot of slob types in tracksuits etc. and terrible dress sense with either sex.

And even of there are a few ugly ones, they are our ugly ones!!

Dating foreign men never measures up because of the humour difference. Plenty will disagree but I think you can't beat it.

The Scottish are much worse in this regard nowadays I find. Personal hygiene standards especially within the male populace in Ireland has risen significantly but Scotland is stuck in a time warp in that regard. Whatever about smoking they have this thing about sucking on sugary sweets all day as well which obviously isn't good for teeth. That's just an anecdotal impression I have noticed over the years.

Well I was talking about teeth. Skin doesn't suffer from bacteria particularly but it does react hugely to one's diet.

But you do raise a good point - and that is I think certainly in the case of women more so -they mistake 'fashion' i.e hair styling,makeup, clothes- to health. All that stylistic maintenance is quite expensive. The wise money would go on quality food - being healthy is attractive no matter what one's god given looks.

I think the problem is that a lot of Irish men seem to go grey &/or bald in their 30s.
We are used to it here, but other countries don't have that same genetic thing.
It's not unattractive as such, but if you are from a country were it doesn't happen, maybe Irish men look not so attractive..........

We're a bit pasty, and a bit ruddy so that probably adds to the impression of being unhealthy and hence unattractive.

That said, I've never known an Irishman abroad fail to get into plenty of pants with his wit and charm, so swings and roundabouts.

I do however think we have the finest collection of naturally attractive women going. And by naturally I mean fresh creamy skinned, shiny haired, big glossy eyed attractiveness. I would have no time for white girls with a heavy tan, real or otherwise. Its all in the eye of the beholder I guess.
