Walking out of a job/tax deducted

    Hi,

I've been working in a call centre for almost two years, and finally have just packed it in. (yes I know, never ideal to walk out of a job but I'm in a position to do so and have kind of prepared for this over the last few months)

My next paycheck is not due until this day next week (Friday). Should I leave 'ceasing' my employment on revenue until then? Or will it not make any difference? What kind of tax deductions will be made if I cease my employment online before receiving my final paycheck?

Obviously I need to go ahead and apply for JA in the meantime while seeking another job. I know there may be a disqualification due to me walking out but hopefully due to the nature of call centre environments it will be a little more lenient

You cannot cease Revenue yourself AFAIK. It's done by the employer payroll when they put your termination thru.

I thought that aswell but its giving me the option to cease employment and put in a date on My revenue online? Should I leave it another few days maybe

Don't do anything until your final pay is processed.

Social welfare will be is it 9 weeks where you can't claim as you resigned.

Well no its not definite, they can disqualify me for upto nine weeks if they choose to do so, but I went down yesterday and put in a claim and she knew I walked out, and said just put in a note to explain why, with the additional documents.

    Fingers crossed!

Was more so wondering should I touch anything on my revenue job/pension details now?

While the option is there when I spoke to someone in revenue they suggested that it was best to leave it to the employer to do it.
