    Hello,

I thought this would be an easy answer to find on google, but its evading me !

A friend of mine has asked me where they can purchase MS Word, I cant find a link online to purchase it in euros, is there any bricks and mortar shops that sell it ?

I'd try eBay. I've previously purchased a legitimate copy of Office 2007 there.

I'm not sure how widely available the 'old discs' method of purchasing is, but possibly try somewhere like Soundstore or maybe Harvey Norman?

    Hi

I don't think I have ever seen MS Word sold separately - it is usually part of the Office Suite. However ... does your friend really need MS Word ?

LibreOffice is a free alternative, is excellent and is almost identical to Word.

    Hope this helps

That's direct from Microsoft online, in Euros as per your initial search.

Office Home & Student doesn't include Outlook, just so you're aware. You'd need Home & Business for that.

These days (at least for home users) MS Office is subscription-based.

Yes they will most likely work. At least for a while. They are not valid licenses though. The person selling it to you is not allowed to sell it under the terms that they got the license from Microsoft (typically students or start up companies)

If you want an illegal version of Office, why not just save yourself the €9 and install a hacked one?

As a matter of interest (as a LibreOffice user) what was the reason they wanted MS Office and not Libre Office?

    Had they previously used LO?
    Was it some incompatibility?
Maybe some specific MS functions in MS Office?

    .... just wondering .....

Mod Hi folks, I've removed links to ebay key resellers which are likely illegally resold MSDN keys and could very likely deactivate down the line in if Microsoft catch on. Please refrain from linking such sellers (if the price is too good to be true, then it probably is dodgy).

They perceived it as less usable, they flat out wanted MS office

That surprises me. Is a non-student 2020 version expected?

Not surprised. Even relatively recent versions of LibreOffice are not great for opening MS Office files. Seems to screw up horribly when any fancy layout options are used.

Office 2019 is the current version, 2016 was the previous one.
