I've been reading rave reviews of this, a six-part documentary about a top college cheerleading team preparing for the national competition. I'm halfway through, and it's pretty hair-raising stuff at times. Some of the stunts they do look insane from far away, seeing them close up is even worse. When they go wrong, which happens sometimes. At one point a coach is shown saying something like "if one person doesn't do their job, bad things happen", so you can guess what happens next.

The college is in Texas, so there's a lot of praying at weird times. The coach, Monica, is a real Texas character. Very sweet, and so far we haven't seen her really angry. With any luck, we won't.

From out there on the moon, international politics look so petty. You want to grab a politician by the scruff of the neck and drag him a quarter of a million miles out and say, ‘Look at that, you son of a bitch’.
