Building in Wicklow?

    Hi,
    Did anyone maybe build or plan to build in Wicklow?
    The housing market is so overpriced that I thought about going into semi self-build.
    Question is how hard is it to get planning permission in a rural area, like Enniskery for example? All with which I talked say that it's almost impossible, all friends are against it, that its not worth the hassle.
    Any advice will be gladly heard.
