Utter bol*ocks from the resident aristocrat. Regional hospitals have saved countless lives.

In the greater scheme of things, having them, does more harm than good. This is why NO ONE can improve the system.

Michael Martin does not inspire confidence and coming across poorly from where I'm sitting.

He's in complete fantasy land about his service to the state. It has all been about getting to the job of Taoiseach.

A lot of people dont want to believe it. Close 15 hospitals. Divert resources to the half dozen that are worthwhile. Health service improved. But, the people of Ballinasloe, Nenagh, Roscommon, etc wont hear of it, even though it is harmful to their health to keep them open. It is the single reason why no progress has been made in decades of this Angola.

Ever heard of the magic hour when you are having a stroke, heart attack, etc..???

Now, try getting to one of your half dozen hospitals in that time if you live outside of a major city....

Health is a big election issue and MM scored more points in that section than the other 2
He'll lose any points when people remember what a disaster he was in that ministry. All bluff from him

Just on the debate tonight and overall Health is a big election issue and MM scored more points in that section than the other 2

He did score points but it’s counter balanced by him being a health minister.

Ireland must be the only country in the world where left leaning politicians object to a property tax.

Whatever the rights and wrongs of how much they earn ... that is how much they earn. You won’t attract them here with high tax and levies so we won’t fill the positions

How many people realise that even under salaries that the public considers excessive, that it simple is IMPOSSIBLE to fill all the consultant vacancies in the country ?

Yes, but who pays for it?

It's a matter of management and accountability with less waste. Not super health centres.

As opposed to Leo who achieved almost nothing in the two ministries he's held in the last 9 years.

He always had lots to say about everyone else's brief though.

Yea, Tax people who provide employment, run businesses, who work as CEO's, managing directors and steer companies into providing more jobs... Make 'em pay!

Appalling that SF would want to end the property tax. Taxing wealth is a left wing principle. Joke.

And paying for water supply and waste removal based on usage.

The regional hospitals don't have the kit, staff and expertise to save you if you rock up there out of hours (or in hours, in some cases).

Properly fund and staff the air ambulance services instead.

Just to point out the people of Nenagh are at the mercy of the University Hospital Limerick in terms of A&E, a hospital consistently one of the three most over crowded in Ireland. I'd argue that having limited hospital services in Nenagh is hugely harmful to their health but not for the reasons you suggest.

It is for the value for money it gives - sucking money away from Limerick where it would give better efficiency.
