    Anyone any experiences with these?

    Wud be looking for one 2015 or younger in petrol.

    A friend of mine has suggested the Sportline or the VRS.

    Any tips? Thanks

    Yes, great car, based on the VW Golf chassis.

    Plenty of pre-2015 Diesels out there with the 184bhp engine in vRS trim.

    I would suggest a 1.4 TSI or even 1.2 TSI should be plenty for what you need.
    These are turbocharged engines so would be equivalent to older 2.0 and 1.6 engines in terms of power.

    There are different bhp versions of the 1.2 though, avoid the basic one which I think is 86bhp.

    VRS models command a fair price premium over more standard models.

    Thanks Colm, what's the difference in the VRS over the other models.

    I mainly want it for comfort for longer journeys and reliability.

    The VRS is like the Golf GTI version of the Octavia - for want of a better comparison. It will have stuff like big wheels, lowered suspension, sports seats etc and a more powerful engine (2.0 turbo petrol or diesel)
    You’ll pay more for these because they cost more new.

    As suggested by other posters, a mid range Octavia like an SEL, Elegance, Ambition, Style etc will have what you want.

    The interior of the VRS a plasticy for me, I would go for the style/sel/l&k over it. If possible look to UK for a much better selection of petrols.

    Not up to date on UK pricing but you could probably get a decent Superb for not much more than the Octavia, due to higher rate of depreciation. I did!

    Petrol or diesel as nox tax is a killer.

    You might struggle to find a used petrol here as most would have been diesel sales I'd say

    True! A quick scout around donedeal and all the vRS are diesel, hard to get petrol ones..

    I wouldn't... I think that engine is underpowered for the weight of the car, especially if you drive on the motorway...but I would say test drive

    We have one as a family car and we love it.

    It's perfectly fine for us - two adults and two kids (8 and 5). Took it to France twice with a full load and it was well able for the load.

    I wouldn't... I think that engine is underpowered for the weight of the car, especially if you drive on the motorway...but I would say test drive
    Needs more power....

    Speaking from experience?

    It's an Octy not a Superb, a mate of mine has one, drove behind it once and it took off up the hill fairly sharp, so it's probably the equivalent of the older 1.6l

    Don't think VAG knocked 115bhp from a NASP 1.6 TBH in days gone by.

    Yeah I had one last year while my Octavia was in for service..had it two days over the weekend.. was very thirsty as well. I'm used of the 2 litre so was an obvious drop in power to me. The Octavia feels like a heavy car to me.. like all these threads test drive test drive test drive is what I'd suggest..if the op is talking vrs bhp then I'd imagine least they are after is 150

    They had a 1.6 FSI which had 115bhp, good on juice too, though it was a fairly rare engine over here if I remember correctly.

    Yeah I'd have thought the interior is the same. Just the seats are different.. sportline and vrs seats are bucket style.. not the best if you have back issues.. vrs would be less comfy than say. 150 bhp sportline .. probably bigger wheels and stuffer suspension setup. I'm in the final week or two with my 2 litre diesel dsg sportline and have enjoyed owning it

    Even with 18” wheels, I find mine very comfy. I did find the seats bad in terms of lumbar support when I got the car, but 6 months on I find them great. Can’t explain that.
