Its getting to around that time of the competition where the number of controversial results increase :-)

Well as they say, the problem with democracy is that it includes everyone

Match 5: Ram Jam - Black Betty...If a jukebox has this, I'll select it.

Match 6: Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen... Absolute beautiful nonsense.

Match 7: Don't Stop Me Now - Queen... Love the energy of it

Match 8: Fleetwood Mac - Go Your Own Way... Slightly less bland

I'm gutted to see Black Betty go, just the one song left from my original 10 now.

That thing with Spaceoddity still bugs me. . .:pac::pac:

    According to this site:
    https://www.officialcharts.com/search/singles/space%20oddity/

it first charted in 1969. and then charted again in 1975. . .
I reckon since we got that far, we should let it slide? I mean it is a song for teh ages and I wouldn't mind seeing it winning!! :D

Upcoming gigs and events: Nova Twins, Tanita Tikaram, David Byrne, The Cure,

ok 3 easy and 1 difficult.
Match 1: Blue Oyster Cult (I never really liked Hotel California)
    Match 2: David Bowie
Match 3: Queen (that's the difficult one, and I don't mind either of them going through - this could have been the final)
    Match 4: Queen again

Upcoming gigs and events: Nova Twins, Tanita Tikaram, David Byrne, The Cure,

Match 1: Hotel California - Eagles v Don't Fear the Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult

Hotel California because it's a fantastic song and BOC already won the one hit wonders comp.
Match 2: Space Oddity - David Bowie v Born to Run - Bruce Springsteen

Born to Run as it's the Boss who is CRIMINALLY underrepresented in this comp. And Bowie sucks. There, I said it.

Match 3: Patti Smith - Because the Night v Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen

Rhapsody because it's one of the best songs of all time.
Match 4: Don't Stop Me Now - Queen v Go Your Own Way - Fleetwood Mac

Fleetwood Mac, again for similar reasons as above but much more underrated than Rhapsody.

We allowed re-releases in the other competitions. It was No 1 in the UK for two weeks in 1975 so it's allowed. Not as controversial as The Cure.

Blue Oyster Cult - Don't Fear The Reaper - because its great and Hotel California is overrated.

David Bowie - Space Oddity - again because its great and Born To Run is overrated.

Patti Smith Group - Because the Night - because it's a great song, and just let me check my notes... oh yeah, Bohemian Rhapsody is overrated.

Fleetwood Mac - Go Your Own Way - because it's the deserving winner of the whole comp at this point, and because I'm clearly going for a theme here... Don't Stop Me Now is overrated.

Well thats me done then. All ten of my nominations gone.

Really hope neither Bohemian Rhapsody nor Hotel California wins.

    What?
    Is this gone?!
One of my original ten also :(

Eagles - Just because I know all the lyrics and can sing along.

Queen Bohemian Rhapsody - It has about 6 different genres in it but somehow still works.

Queen Don't Stop Me - I enjoy how full of life it is throughout.

Hotel California - I love the eagles, I love California too

    Space Oddity - David Bowie

Bowie just gets it for me. Amazing song.

    Bohemian Rhapsody contender for final

[Go Your Own Way - Fleetwood Mac 70s band deserves to go further

    Match 1:
Don't Fear the Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult
Not a fan of the Eagles and like this song

    Match 2:
    Abstaining

    Match 3:
    Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
One of the oddest and most marvelous songs ever and I just love Queen

    Match 4:
Go Your Own Way - Fleetwood Mac
My last nomination in this competition. Although if Don't Stop Me Now was up against any other song, it would of gotten my vote.

I'm also out of nominations. Queen I went for a different song (Somebody to Love) as I was confident that someone would nominate Rhapsody.
I don't mind though, some great songs left in the competition!!

    Match 1 The Eagles
Love this song, it still sounds fresh

    Match 2 Bruce Springsteen
I grew up listening to Bruce as my Mum loves him and his music grew on me as I got older

Match 3 Queen - still love all Queen songs and saw them in concert with Adam Lambert a couple of years ago, well worth attending.

Match 4 Queen again - not my absolute favourite song but can't vote against Queen yet.

#1 Don't Fear The Reaper - more interesting musically, and I never liked the Eagles.

#2 Space Oddity - toughest matchup here but Bowie deserves credit for being so inventive.

#3 Because The Night - a perfect pop song with a punk edge, and Bohemian Rhapsody is mostly just self-indulgent **** (technically impressive, sure, but still ****!)

#4 Go Your Own Way - a monster tune, a biting anti-love song that contains more drama and human emotion than anything Queen ever did in the 70's.
