That looks an absolute gem. Surprised to see spec like that on a 350 and not a 500

yeah, if it was a 500 with those features and price id be all over it, the 350 is just less engine for the same tax though.

Only 105,000 km, sure barely run in! Yeah I agree with you Eric, shame it's not a V8!

    07 Legend, V6 AWD, €5500

Only a 6 cyl where a similar vintage/price LS would be 8, but a nice and alternative car for 5k

You would never regret buying a car like that. Smooth, powerful, elegant, luxurious. For €4k! You could spend €20k on a new diesel rattle box with chape tax and convince yourself that it's great value but you would actually enjoy driving a car like that Merc. That's real value for money!

Beautiful that S-class, as above if it was a V8 i'd buy it tomorrow.

Only thing I'd say about that s class is that it's the first generation of that shape and I'd never buy first generation. Normally all the bits which break are sorted by the facelift

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,579 ✭✭✭Mickiemcfist

Don't know if it's just me, but that Honda Legend's rear quarter panel reminds me of the current C & E class from that angle.

As I scrolled thru' the thread I thought it was a Merc.

This is my old car, I sold it in 2018. if you're looking for one of the best GS300's out there I recommend this. It's been very well taken care of its whole life, has all modern creature comforts and is overall an excellent package.

Yes. But s500 are way rarer and would sell for a good bit more. Throw facelift lights into it and you can’t touch it for , on price / presence ratio in my opinion. Has to be lwb tho

Drove a good few of the above back in the day. They were a real granmother-mobile. But the seats are huge and very comfy. A real cruiser, not one for twisty b roads.

Hoovie is one of the better things to watch on youtube.

Does anyone know of any similar YouTube channels? Preferably a UK one... Would be fun to watch some projects of cars available in our market.

Car Throttle can be interesting - the often do challenges to buy a certain type of car at a low price. Bnagernomics style.

They also have Phil - the now V6 MX5 and a series on how they got him to that point.

not a chance in hell, I would go for that car. If you are being hammered on tax, there is no comparison between that and the s class in terms of presence and prestige...

in fact with the prices the w221 are now at, the other things would want to be near given to me for nothing, to even contemplate taking on the running costs. Which I wouldnt currently as I have an s500... roll on the more recent w221 dropping in costs, 4.8 twin turbo, 450 odd bhp, 1200 motor tax! its pretty bloody good value, given our criminal motor tax system Awwwwrigghhhhtttt!

Everyone always thinks they have the prettiest wife. I like it's presence.

It's still a bit expensive. But it's unusual.

There's surely nothing more expensive than a cheap complicated Mercedes ?

I know nothing about these, but looks like a whole heap of motor for the money.

07 730D, decent test, low-ish miles for year, for 3900

08 730D with slightly lower tax rate, short test, middling miles, for 4500

I’ve had no issues with mine in two years of ownership, except I had to get new battery the other day. Expected. I’d want a bloody good and extremely reasonable mechanic having one though , which I do have.

I don't know, it does look nice and even though it is very highly priced I think it stands out more than an s class.

I like the awd aspect. It might stand out more because of rarity, but honest to god, How many people in this country would be interested in that car ?

Someone who always wanted one. Same as any Luxobarge. Or a Honda person. Or a motor tax chancer. Or someone who's been burnt by 7 series and S class expensive repairs.

If I was in the market I'd buy it at 3,500 if it had an NCT.

Nice, but has completely wrong size tyres on all 4 corners of those Style 149s, they're like monster truck tyres!

those 750 will be a more engaging drive than the merc, but give me the w221 any day, just infinitely more presence in my opinion...
